Growing up LDS in Utah, I have to agree with JB. I had catholic friends but very few friends of other religions. To me it is exciting to have a growing and diverse religious base. I love learning of other religions and look to situations such as the building of the Hindu temple as an opportunity to learn and a chance for the community to express the diversity and acceptance that should be expressed in a civilized community.
Somehow I think if Brigham were still alive he wouldn't be so accepting of all this change in Utah.
Building a Hindu temple in Utah? I don't think so. The church is more accepting and mainstream than it used to be, at least they're trying to fit in more.
A Hindu's Take On Mormons
But last week two girls knocked on my door and I didn't feel as forceful or annoyed as I had before. Maybe because they were women, they put me at ease. Maybe because they mentioned knowing my very kind upstairs neighbors. I think perhaps these days I feel more confident and secure in my Hinduism and so am less defensive. Ref. Source 3
