What the Catholic Church should do is stop hiding this activity. Bring each priest accused of doing this back to the US and make them stand trial. Those that are convicted should immediately be stripped of their priesthood. Then they should be sent to prison and put out in the general population… yes, I have zero tolerance for this and I don't much care what would happen to these evil men out in the general population.

Pope addresses latest sexual abuse claims in letter. Pope Francis has acknowledged "With shame and repentance" the Catholic Church's failure to act on allegations of sexual abuse by clerics against minors going back decades, writing "We showed no care for the little ones; we abandoned them."
