Being constructive with my introduction comes easy because of the love I have for my country.I recently visited Trinidad with my wife and we had a wonderful time.
I was on rest and recuperation from deployment in Iraq and she was excited to visit my country of birth for the first time.
With all the anticipation and excitement of meeting up with old friends after eight-teen plus years, introducing my wife to the family, and eating some good cook food; we where disturbed with all the stories of Governmental corruption and police brutality. Needles to say, we didn't journey to far from where we where staying but we had a good time. In-addition, we did a family outing to Maracas Bay and that was nice! The water was not blue but we had fun.
Now, I did see a couple negative things between the police and local citizens that I don't care to mention but it brought concern to both me and my wife.
As a former Law Enforcement Officer who understands the importance of gaining and maintaining the trust of the people in the community in which we serve, and how vital that trust is to an organization success in bridging that proverbial gap thats created by conduct unbecoming. Nevertheless, there is a lot of positives in Trini to build on and I'm optimistic about its future.
