Have you ever pondered the significance of a rainbow. Â We know that it was a sign given to Noah of the Lord's promise to never again flood the earth. Â Is that the only significance?
Well, on 10 March 1844 Joseph Smith made a comment of the relation between rainbows and the second coming. Â He says in the year the bow is withdrawn and not seen then will commence desolation, calamity, and distress among the nations and there shall be no seedtime or harvest, but we can look for famine.
These comments were recorded by several different men.  Recorded in  Joseph Smith, The Words of Joseph Smith, comp. and ed.  Teachings of the Prophet Josep Smith. Â
A double rainbow was seen over the Nauvoo temple on 6 April 1844 not long after the General conference was dismissed.
