I would love to find out more but it can be very expensive to trace your roots and time consuming. I have always been fascinated by geneology. |

Wow, that's very impressive, jstrotter. Was it your work that found all of these, or is it a family effort to maintain the records? Interesting lineage, thanks for sharing.
Roz
It of course is a group effort. There are many families on Ancestry.com that have done part of this research, especially the ancient royal ones. I just happened to be able to find a link to the royal Roman lines once I got far back enough in my own research. My line back to Charlemagne is pretty much undisputed, although there are a few questionable things, one of them being the link between James and Field Moore, however, much research is being done about these names, including DNA testing, and it all points in favor of what I have laid out above.
I must admit, that I am one of those people who always intends to do some genealogy work, but never quite gets round to it. However, I feel quite inspired after reading some of the interesting stories that everybody has put on! maybe I'll make it my new year resolution to do some family tracing
I've recently been doing a lot of research on the family history.
On my mother's side;
Grandma's from Richmond Virginia, her parents came over after Culloden and ended up tobacco plantation owners. Rumor has it her grandmother was Cherokee, but at the time that was something shameful so no records exist for authentication.
Grandpa was in Canada, his family moved there sometime around WWI from Kiev. He met Grandma when she came to California after the Depression and he had come to California to help in the war.
On my dad's side;
Grandma was the daughter of Portuguese/Welsh fisher folk who settled in Southern California.
Grandpa was from an English/German background dating back to the Mayflower. The German side came over in one of the early German Colonies. Unfortunately we haven't found any of the family that stayed in Germany, the records were located in a church in the Alsace-Lorraine area and were destroyed in one of the bombings.
Grandma and Grandpa met in College when they were both studying chemistry and music.
Hi.
I have been able to trace several of my lines back to the 1600's. But some of the lines I can barely get anything. One of my more difficult lines is my fathers line out of Austria and Hungary in 1881. The surnames involved are Heger and Windt.
If anyone can offer any help or wants more information just reply to this message.
Thanks,
Oddley
on both my maternal and paternal linage I can trace back to Scotland 7 generations back from me. My uncle has some more information from the records in Scotland but I have not seen it yet. We have many pictures as well. My wife goes back the same number of generation on her fathers side to Scotland. Her mother is more complicated but is Ties int Native tribes in Jamaica.
Funny part is from the Scotland My wifes fathers roots stem 15 miles from mine. It is a very small world.
I also recently bumped into a lady who's aunt is creating a family tree and they are my Great Great Great great grand fathers brothers decedents. She looked identical to my first cousin Ruby. The Fathers family genes are strong in the physical characteristics.
