Seafood from some parts of the oil-fouled Gulf of Mexico has been declared safe to eat by the government, based in part on human smell tests. But even some Gulf fishermen are questioning whether the fish and shrimp are OK to feed to their own families. Just because it does not smell like oil does not mean that it is safe to eat. What about the fish ingesting some of the crude oil and becoming tainted with the oil. Are we going to see people now ingesting oil into their bodies because the government can not smell the oil on the outside of a fish or crab?
