Doku Umarov, the Islamist insurgent leader and ?emir of the Caucasus? who claimed responsibility for organizing the March 29 Moscow metro suicide bombings, announced his retirement Sunday night. In a statement posted on the jihadist Kavkaz Center Web site, the Chechen-born terrorist said that he was stepping aside to let ?younger, more energetic? leaders take control of the movement. But at the moment, the man who will take over is almost unknown.
