Children in the city of Nagasaki lit about 5,000 candles Sunday to pray for peace, while the French charge d'affaires visited an atomic bomb park prior to this year's peace memorial service Monday to mark the 1945 U.S. atomic bombing of the city.
At Nagasaki Peace Park where the memorial ceremony will be held, elementary and junior high school students lit handmade candles at 7 p.m. and wished for the elimination of nuclear weapons. (AP)
