What has continuously fascinated me about this whole thing is the amount of money that has been spent by christians to fight these legal proceedings. I just wonder how mutch money has actually been spent in fighting the gay marriage law by christians in their attempt to stop it.
How else could that money have been spent? How many lives / souls could have been saved by that money?
I have the view that God is not at all concerned with this particular topic. Just like he is not concerned with our space program. He is interested in our hearts. If we have not learned that in 2000 years I have serious doubts we will ever.
One does have to ponder if the money might be better spent to help the needy. I how ever am not convinced God does not feel this is a worthy battle. After all he strongly is against gay marriage. Did he not turn cities to salt over items like this?
If we openly accept and recognize gay marriage as being Legal and moral in the land, it sends the undercurrent that being gay is not sinful in its act. Thus being gay is not a sin in the christian belief system. The result is that the walk with God starts straying off and we put more distance between Christianity and God. In Canada's case we were founded in Christianity thus the whole country is straying from God in its walk. The farther you stray the worse you values and ability to proper in the long run. So this is why they fight it so hard.
I am not say right or wrong just my take on the reason for the battle.
