You do not need a lot of experience to play D&D and the GMs are not that hard to get along with. IF you like to do RPGs give it a go. You do not have to stick around if you find it to not be to your tastes.

Ebony, I think I've seen what you're describing as collaborative storytelling? That tends to be the way I've seen it differentiated in communities with people who are also used to "rp" with actual games like D&D, such as this one.

As you say, "free" or open roleplaying essentially people writing portions of an ongoing mutual story, reacting and incorporating each person's last addition, and above, Support, has linked to similar posts - perhaps you yourself could be the new example here and get this style of RP popularized and really brought to the forefront and attract new participants here!
