Comments: Well, if the current crime statistics posted here today are correct, and the numbers continue to maintain at this rate, we are looking at about 400 murders for 2011 (give or take about 20) and about 10 kidnappings (give or take about 2). One must also consider that Trinidad & Tobago seem to experience a crime spike during the last 6-8 weeks of the year. Last year there was 485 murders, and there has been a downward trend for the last two years.

Comments: We are all responsible for crime! All the criminals in society were once babies in someone's arms who was responsible for not only nourishing their bodies but instilling proper character in them. Where the parents fail, the extended family should fall in, and if that fails the school and church, mandir or mosque should fall in. By this time that individual is a young adult, and only after this does he come into the domain of the police. Law enforcement is usually less than 1% of society thus catering for a criminal population of about 10%, whenever the criminal population exceeds this, law enforcement is overwhelmed. Blaming the Police for crime is training your guns at the wrong target and will not cause any improvements, wider social issues must be dealt with also.
We live in other times Guen and I don't believe society should pick up the slack of parents. They're the ONLY responsible for whatever happen to their child. School, Church, etc can only supplement (but NOT replace) whatever is being taught at home.
What the heck is happening here? So Gibbs isn't in the country during a state of emergency but I just read he was detained by Immigration in Brazil because he didn't have a visa! How in the world this could happen to the Commissioner of Police!
Wow I don't know what to say! Four hours? Are you serious? I am just speechless to be honest and it makes you wonder where our tax dollar are going. What kind of assistants this man has that they don't know this type of information?

Comments: He should be here as far as I'm concerned, there is nothing more important for him to do at this time than to be here during the situation we're living.
Detained? How embarrassing! He should fire whoever was in charge of his travel arrangements, visa, etc. That's a basic thing to find out.
