The Door To Nowhere! A Tale Of What Never Happened - Page 2

Unable to react the assassin proceeds moving through the air slowly, too late now to redirect his attack, even further gone is the chance to avoid the dagger as it slowly comes to line with his chest,

The slow motion dramatizes the event as the tip of the dagger disappears into his chest with no resistance at all, even as more of the dagger in engulfed by his body the old man feels no weight of the assassin.
Then not only the dagger but the homeless mans hands pass through the illusion before him as well.

Even for an assassin it moved too silently, a decoy, a silent image.

Meanwhile out in normal time since a few seconds before the barrier was erected the real assassin had let loose 4 shurikens simultaneously all on different curved projectile courses to cross where the old man stood, ready to burst into the barrier at any second from all sides.

The man attempts to dodge the missiles and is successful at first. However he put himself in a strange position driving the dagger into an illusion. Falling threw it he was not ready for meeting no resistance. The new threat meets him fully as he is struck ever so slowly by 2 of the shurikens. One in his left leg at the thigh and one in his stomach.

Thew man tries to ignore the pain but it moves so slowly threw him that there is no escape. He is emersed in pain as the projectile moves threw his body. He falls dead as the barrier dissipates.

The assassin hit his mark once again.

OOC... (oh death was a bit harsh, maybe just a slice across the leg and stomach? I would still react to them as 1d4 damage)

As the man falls with the barrier and the image dissapears, silence beholds the room, eventually a young ruggerd man drops from the ceiling, hidden upon a support beam, landing gracefully.
Cautiously he approaches the rag pile of where his victum lays.
A buckler straped to his left arm is held deffensively infront of his body while a punching dagger is firmly fitted to his right forearm.

The homeless man's body turns into a black smoke, gathers together, then reveals a toad. The toad hops a few times finding a nice spot next to the fireplace. It nestles itself in the corner of the fireplace and the wall, next to the small stage. It looks at the assassin blinking a few times then shuts it's eyes, apparently taking a nap.

Sitting on a bar stool watching all that is going on he wonders if he is in a movie. Flying bodies, disappearing people. HE feels that maybe he has not had enough to drink yet. HE turns to the bartender and calls for another round.

The young man shrugs, as he watches the toad hop away, with a click of his fingers he is out of battle gear and back into his work uniform. His favourite bartending slacks and long sleeved buttoned shirt.

He quickly races to fetch a new round tfor the shouting man.

Everyone forgets about the toad and goes about their business.

The toad does not forget about itself though. It wonders to itself why it is a toad. There are strange aliens walking around that are much bigger than him. Wearing strange skins on their bodies. Making odd noises from their mouths. It blinks its big toad eyes judgingly, staring at the men.

The new bartender goes to pour a drink for the thirsty patron and spills a little on the bar. The cause of this coming to pass was the bartenders .573 parts of a second surprise. He sees the toad now has legs and arms like a person. It has also grown to the size of a young child.

The man-toad is sitting on a stool by the fire smoking a pipe and reading a book called Sojourn. It is wearing a top hat and thin framed bifocals.

Every so often a poof of smoke comes from the pipe and drifts towards the fireplace. The toad mumbles to himself and turns the page.

Once finished serving all who call for ale, the bartender stomps over to the toadman and stands over him, with an expression of anger on his face and one arm out stretched he points to the sign above the entrance door,

Not the "all bloodied severed heads must remain in a waterproof bag" sign that has a pretty picture with it but the "no reading inside" sign...
