What does "Droning" refer to among soldiers in the military?

Comments: Droning is when soldiers are basically so tired that they are standing asleep. Usually that happens after days without sleep like on a mission or something. When you've got to this point you're not very effective.

Droning is something that happens a lot when a soldier has to be up for long periods of time. It is something that many upper ranks look out for as they want their troops to be 100% effective and a soldier that has been up for more than 24 hours is only around 75%. It rapidly goes down hill from there. Most NCOs will try to make sure that each troop is given a chance to get some shut eye even in a combat mission.
