Armed robber sought in Feb. 10 incident

Jacksonville police are searching for a man wanted in a Friday armed robbery of the Check ?n Go business at 10991 San Jose Blvd.
Officers were called to the cash checking business at 6:50 p.m. after a man came in, showed a silver handgun and demanded money. After he received an undetermined amount of money, the gunman ran toward the back of the business. The man's image was captured on a security camera.

Jacksonville man to be released after another confesses to Regency mall shooting

Police are working today to release the 18-year-old man charged in last week?s shooting at the Regency Mall after another man has confessed to the crime.
Keith Anthony Brown has been jailed since he was arrested Monday. Police said the intended targets of the shooting, a 21-year-old man and his girlfriend, identified Brown as the shooter from a photospread.
Initially, they said it was Brown who was in the Finish Line store Feb. 10 when his two friends pointed the victims out to him just before he fired three shots, missing each time.

Flagler County man fatally shoots wife

A Palm Coast man shot and killed his wife while inspecting a gun this morning, he told the Flagler County Sheriff?s Office.
Deputies were called to their Covington Lane home about 9:15 a.m. The Sheriff's Office said is considering it suspicious while the investigaton is under way.
The 30-year-old woman and 32-year-old man have not been identified. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement and State Attorney?s Office also are investigating what happened.

Jacksonville parents convicted in their children's drownings

A Jacksonville couple was convicted Friday in the June 2010 drownings of their two small children who were left home alone.
Markanthony and Jovita Ibeagwa were both charged with two counts of aggravated manslaughter of a child in the deaths of of 3-year-old Blessing and 6-year-old Gerrard.

Girl Scout offices in Jacksonville and Gainesville evacuated after white powder sent to one

A suspicious white powder in a package opened Tuesday morning at the Girl Scouts of Gateway Council office at 1000 Shearer Ave. resulted in an evacuation as officers in protective suits scoured the building, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff?s Office.
But since the package was specifically addressed to an employee, Girl Scout officials also evacuated their office on NW 8th Street in Gainesville as a safety precaution.
The evacuations at the Girl Scouts offices occurred after a Jacksonville employee opened the package just before 11 a.m. and white powder came out.

A wallet was stolen from a pew at Advent Lutheran Church on Loch Rane Boulevard, Orange Park. The wallet had been taken out of a purse and left unattended on the pew after the service.
Feb. 27
An iPod Touch and an iPod Nano left unattended in a book bag were stolen from the unlocked ROTC building at Orange Park High School.
A purse was left unattended in the restroom in the front of Walmart on Blanding Boulevard, Orange Park. When the owner returned and found her purse, money and IDs were missing.

Jacksonville 17-month-old killed by neighbor's Rottweiler

A 17-month-old Jacksonville boy died today after being attacked by a chained Rottweiler when the boy broke from his mother and went into a neighbor's yard, police said.
The attack that killed Dylan Andres occurred just before noon in the 1000 block of Maynard Street off Norwood Avenue, said Chief of Detectives Tom Hackney. A neighbor who witnessed part of the attack said the boy was bitten in the neck. He was pronounced dead at Shands Jacksonville hospital.
