A 16-year-old Jacksonville boy who crashed his mother's car through the railing on the Lem Turner Road bridge over the Ribault River on April 6 and landed upside down in the mud below was cited for careless driving and no driver's license, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

George Zimmerman's lawyer asks judge to recuse herself

ORLANDO, Fla. ? George Zimmerman's attorney on Monday asked the judge in the case to step down because of a possible conflict of interest.
Attorney Mark O'Mara filed a motion seeking Circuit Judge Jessica Recksiedler's removal because her husband is the law partner of Mark NeJame, who works for CNN as an analyst on the Zimmerman case.

Jacksonville man convicted of 2nd-degree murder in revenge shooting

A Jacksonville man has been found guilty of reduced murder charges following a 2010 shooting that left one man dead and another paralyzed.
Clyde Arline stood accused of murdering 22-year-old Jareed L. Jones on the night of July 16, 2010. Another victim, 17-year-old Deion D. Mincey, was also shot during the incident and is paralyzed from the chest down.

4 hospitalized in multi-vehicle Jacksonville crash

A mass crash this morning on San Jose Boulevard resulted in four people being taken to hospitals, one in life-threatening condition, according to Jacksonville police.
The 10:20 a.m. wreck north of Julington Creek bridge involved three pickup trucks and two compact cars, said Lt. R.P. Hacksunda of the Sheriff's Office. Three were heavily damaged.
Further details weren't immediately available as the crash is still being investigated.

Cops catch state health inspectors in Jacksonville restaurant bribery sting

Two state health inspectors who perform restaurant inspections were arrested today after being caught in a bribery sting by Jacksonville police and other agencies, Sheriff John Rutherford announced.
The sting, dubbed Operation Take Out/Pay Out, began after Jacksonville police received a tip in October 2011 that a health inspector was accepting bribes for overlooking health violations in area restaurants. The undercover sting led to another suspect being identified, Rutherford said.

Driver in Thursday crash on Florida 16 in St. Johns County dies

A 27-year-old Orlando man involved in an early morning crash Thursday in St. Johns County has died, the Sheriff's Office said Friday.
Jeffrey S. Peterson lost control of his Ford Explorer on a Florida 16 curve about 12:45 a.m., the Sheriff's Office said. The SUV overturned, ejecting Peterson, who was not wearing a seat belt.

Police seek Badcock Furniture burglar

Police are looking for a man who broke into the Badcock Furniture store at 10965 Beach Blvd. two times late April 30.
Police responded to a burglary alarm at the store to find the front door glass smashed in, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office. Video surveillance showed an unknown male smashed the glass and took two televisions without setting off the alarm. The man returned an hour later and took two more televisions, triggering the alarm that time.
