Attempted murder suspect sought by Jacksonville police

A suspect wanted on charges of attempted second-degree murder, attempted armed robbery and possession of a firearm by a felon is being sought by Jacksonville police.
Clinton E. Gupton, 28, is a known drug user who frequents the Philips Highway and Emerson Street area, according to police. He is described as a 5-foot-10 white male, 175 to 190 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes and has a large tattoo across his back that reads "feel my pain."
There is a warrant for Gupton's arrest, police said. Details of the crimes were not released.

Reward grows as information on who attacked Bo the dog is sought

An anonymous donor has matched the $500 reward offered by the Jacksonville Humane Society to find whoever cut 10 deep slashes in the back of Bo, a dog found June 8 on West Deep Springs Drive on Jacksonville's Northside.

Judge rules in favor of defense regarding Cristian Fernandez exam

A judge has ruled in favor of requests by Cristian Fernandez's defense team to limit the scope of an upcoming state psychologist's exam of the teen in the sexual battery case against him, the Times-Union has learned.
Circuit Judge Mallory Cooper's order, signed today, prevents psychologist William Meadows from asking about substanative discussions Fernandez had with his former public defenders. He is allowed to ask Fernandez about the teen's knowledge regarding court proceedings.

Former St. Johns Sheriff Perry's funeral arrangements announced

Funeral services for former longtime St. Johns County Sheriff Neil Perry will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Flagler Memorial Presbyterian Church, 32 Sevilla St., St. Augustine.
Perry, 67, died Wednesday from cancer.
The visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Craig?s Funeral Home, 1475 S. Dixie Highway, St. Augustine.

Accused Jacksonville conman avoids sentencing for now, tries to change plea

A group of victims stood by and watched as an accused conman who authorities say took them for more than $125,000 strolled by on his way out of the Duval County Courthouse Friday accompanied by his attorney.
They had expected to see bailiffs accompany Raj Kristo Gupta, 42, away in handcuffs to begin his prison sentence. But it was not to be.

Jacksonville man shot twice on Friden Drive

A 41-year-old man walking along a Jacksonville roadway Saturday night was shot in the left hand and thigh by an unknown gunman.
The incident happened about 11:40 p.m. in the 4400 block of Friden Drive off Moncrief Road, according to the Sheriff?s Office.
The victim told police he walking down the street when a man approached him and struck him in the face with a pistol, knocking him unconscious. The man was then apparently shot. Police found a white shirt, two shell casings and one live round on the street, according to incident report.

Jacksonville man identified as victim of fatal swimming accident

Jacksonville police have identified a swimmer whose body was found floating near Little Talbot Island Sunday as Joseph Arthur Houlihan, 28, of Jacksonville.
Police said there was no sign of foul play in Houlihan's death. A search team from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission found his body a mile north of the entrance to the state park.
