Missing man found in Orange Park pond undergoing divorce when he disappeared 13 months ago

The 41-year-old Westside man whose skeletal remains were found this week in an Orange Park pond went missing about a year ago after a court hearing for a divorce, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff?s Office. A teen discovered Erenio Rodriguez?s remains Sunday in a pond at Crossings Boulevard off Wells Road. Rodriguez had lived three miles away on Prestwick Circle.

St. Augustine sex offender arrested on child-pornography charge

A 66-year-old St. Augustine sex offender has been charged with transporting child pornography from Florida to Canada, according to the U.S. Attorney?s Office. Charles Lee Gorish, arrested Friday at his home, faces between 15 and 40 years in federal prison if convicted.

4 injured in Racetrack Road crash in St. Johns

At least four people have been injured in a traffic crash on Racetrack Road in front of Durbin Creek Elementary School. St. Johns County and Jacksonville rescue crews are working the scene. It happened shortly after 4 p.m. At St. Johns County Fire Rescue spokesman said two of the victims were initially trapped in the wreckage and one needed to be airlifted. The St. Johns County Sheriff?s Office advises that the eastbound lanes of Racetrack at Veteran?s Parkway will be closed till about 6 p.m. The Times-Union will update as information becomes available.

Jacksonville council panel OKs bill to pay higher worker comp costs

The Jacksonville Sheriff?s Office will be able to keep open a jail drug-treatment program and still meet ballooning workman?s compensation costs under legislation approved Tuesday by the City Council?s Finance Committee. At least, they hope so. ?It?s a crap shoot,? said Finance Chairman John Crescimbeni, who said the city won?t know its final 2012 workman?s comp costs until weeks after the new budget year starts Oct. 1.

2 from Jacksonville killed in turnpike wreck

A father and son from Jacksonville were killed Friday in a truck wreck on the Florida Turnpike in Osceola County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. Martin Reed, 44, died at the scene of the collision near Yeehaw Junction. Brendan Reed, 16, died at Arnold Palmer Hospital, the Highway Patrol said.

Man, 21, charged with leaving Jacksonville accident scene

A Jacksonville man suspected of running away from a traffic crash was charged Thursday with leaving the scene of an accident involving injury. Joshua R. Baldrick, 21, was arrested by a police officer who interviewed three of four passengers whom the driver left behind after a Sept. 15 wreck in the 8200 block of Lenox Avenue, according to an arrest report. The three identified the driver and said he was ?driving too fast, passing cars and swerving all over the roadway,? the report said.
