Interlachen man get 10 years for secretly filming naked girls

A Putnam County judge sentenced 53-year-old Frank Landon Adams to 10 years in prison Tuesday for secretly filming two 16-year-old girls in the n-de.
Prosecutors said from February 2009 to May 2010, Adams recorded the girls using his guest bathroom and shower at his Interlachen home. They said he also snuck a camera into one of the girls' homes, inside her bedroom closet, and recorded her.
A jury took less than an hour to find him guilty of four counts of video voyeurism and single charges of intercepting oral communication and evidence tampering.

Outrage, concern stirred by presidential effigy purported to be in Jacksonville

Days before general election, cyberspace images of a presidential effigy supposedly hanging at a Jacksonville Shell station drew backlash and anger before being exposed as false by police and debunked elsewhere.
The effigy resembling President Barack Obama shows a noose and a hanging mannequin at what appears to be a Shell station. But while gas pumps are shown in the image and colors match the corporation?s, the photo was clearly not taken at the Baymeadows station, according to a police report.

Jacksonville shooting victim arrested in Sept. 6 gunfire exchange at Shannon Ridge

The 22-year-old victim of a Sept. 6 shooting at the Shannon Ridge apartment complex at 5141 Shenandoah Ave. is under arrest himself on a charge of attempted murder, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff?s Office.

Jacksonville man charged with Orange Park murder of former roommate

Authorities believe a robbery gone bad led to the death of a man who most recently lived in an Orange Park motel and whose former roommate is now jailed in the case.
John Buskager, 22, is charged with murder, grand theft, robbery and theft of an automobile. Andrew Stiekman, 49, was found dead late Wednesday morning in a room at the Rodeway Inn, 300 Park Ave., according to investigators.
Stiekman?s wallet, cell phone and van were missing, an arrest report said. The room also appeared to be straightened.

Duval teacher charged with sexual battery in relationship with student

An Atlantic Coast High School teacher has been charged with sexual battery after police were told she had sex with a student more than once.
Danielle Elizabeth Reed, 23, was arrested Friday. During the investigation, detectives were told Reed once posed as the mother of a ?fake friend? so the victim could spend the night.
The victim?s mother told police a woman with a chocolate Labrador dog came to her house to pick her son up. She told police she believed the woman later identified as Reed was the non-existent friend?s mother.

Glynn police officer hits pedestrian who was walking in roadway

BRUNSWICK, GA. | A man walking in the roadway of U.S. 341 about 2:30 a.m. Friday was struck by a Glynn County patrol car, police said.
Patrol officer Crystal Melendez, 34, was driving south on the five-lane highway when she saw the man just in front of her car, county Police Chief Matt Doering said.
?He just suddenly appeared in her lane of travel. She tried to avoid him, but there wasn?t time,?? Doering said.
The victim was taken to Southeast Georgia Health System?s Brunswick hospital then transferred to Memorial University Medical Center in Savannah.

Bones found on Jacksonville's Northside are homicide victim's

Skeletal remains found in a wooded area off Jacksonville?s Braddock Road on Nov. 14 have been identified and foul play is suspected.
The remains have been identified as those of Sherry Lee Prather, 43, a white female.
A Facebook page for Prather said she has been missing since Oct. 10 and was last seen at Boots and Bottles, a nightclub on North Main Street in Oceanway.
Detectives initially went to the scene to investigate a tip related to a missing persons case. The human remains were found in an area where animal carcasses had been dumped.

FHP warns of smoke problems due to brush fires near Baker-Columbia

The Florida Highway Patrol issued an advisory it is monitoring parts of Northeast Florida due to brush fires.
The alert said motorists may encounter problems due to smoke around US 90 and I-10 near the Baker-Columbia line as well as Queen Road and Senior Court in Columbia County.
Drivers should drive at a safe speed and use low-beam headlights if they encounter smoke, the Highway Patrol said.
