State Attorney Corey will personally prosecute Brevard man accused of killing teenager

State Attorney Angela Corey will personally prosecute the man accused of killing 17-year-old Jordan Davis. Corey confirmed Tuesday that she will be prosecuting Brevard County resident Michael David Dunn along with Assistant State Attorney Erin Wolfson. Corey attended a pretrial hearing for Dunn on Tuesday and spoke for the prosecution in front of Circuit Judge Suzanne Bass. ?I try to prosecute a couple of cases each year,? said Corey, who is also scheduled to prosecute Kevin Christopher Jones, 27, next week in the strangulation of Latoya Latresa Jones, 26.

Arrest of 18-year-old in December homicide in Jacksonville

Police have charged an 18-year-old with second-degree murder and a 19-year-old as an accessory involving the death of a man found lying on a Jacksonville Street in December. Andronicus Lorenzo Williams, 29, was found dead of a gunshot wound in a field at East 27th Street and Evergreen Avenue on Dec. 27. Marcus Lamont Brown, 18, of the 600 block of East 31st Street was jailed on another charge when he was interviewed Jan. 31 about the shooting, said Lt. Rob Schoonover.

Second Taser shot stops man with knife in Jacksonville confrontation

A knife-wielding man repeatedly yelling ?I?m not going back to prison!? kept police officers at bay Monday morning at a home on Hunt Street until a second Taser shot stopped him, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff?s Office. John Michael Barker, 21, of Rockwood Drive was charged with aggravated assault on a police officer and burglary, jail records show.

Unattended bicycles, cell phones, 400 rounds of ammunition and a vehicle with the keys in the ignition were among the property stolen across Clay County, according to the latest Sheriff?s Office property crime report. Here is the full report for Feb. 27-28: Thefts Feb. 27 An unsecured cell phone was stolen from a backpack at Orange Park High School on Kingsley Avenue. An unattended bicycle was stolen from the driveway of a residence on River Road, Orange Park.

Skull found in Northside creek human, but a century-plus in age

A skull found Wednesday by a Southside Jacksonville fisherman while trolling around Sisters Creek is human, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff?s Office. But the skull is more than 100 years old, so Sheriff?s Office homicide investigators won?t be pursuing the case any further.

Elderly, wheelchair-bound murder defendant gets bail

MACON, GA. | A Bibb County judge has granted bond for a wheelchair-bound man accused in a fatal shooting. Judge Edgar Ennis set bond for Frank Reeves at $100,000 Thursday. The 73-year-old man is charged with felony murder in the death of 65-year-old Linda Hunnicutt. Another judge in early January denied bond for Reeves and his attorney, Veronica Brinson, requested the court reconsider.

Jacksonville police: Man accidentally shoots self in head

Police think a man in his 20s accidentally shot himself in the head Tuesday and may not make it through the night. He and three others around the same age were in a home in the 11100 block of Key Haven Boulevard off Dunn Avenue when they said he was playing with the gun and it went off, Sgt. Dan Janson said. The 911 call came about 10 a.m. The others have been interviewed and apparently tried to get rid of the gun, Janson said. Police know where the weapon is and were going to get it Tuesday afternoon. He would not say where.

An unsecured bicycle, cell phone and cash from a wallet were stolen from various Clay County locations this week, according to the latest Sheriff?s Office property crime report. Here is the full report, for March 13-14: Thefts March 13 A registration decal was stolen from a vehicle in the parking lot of Orange Park Kennel Club on Park Avenue. March 14 Cash was stolen from an unattended wallet at the Keystone Saloon on Florida 100, Keystone Heights.
