Georgia man convicted in murder of drug dealer

A Georgia man has been convicted of the second-degree murder of a 26-year-old Jacksonville man during a drug deal in April 2012.Amato Scott, 25, shot Mario Marc Smith in the head in the parking lot of the Willow Ridge condominiums in Jacksonville while completing a deal to sell 7 pounds of marijuana to Scott and Dexter Allen Bridges.Police said Scott and Bridges took the pot and fled back to Georgia. A witness identified the two men after the shooting. They ended up in jail on unrelated charges in Adel, which is where Jacksonville police found them.

Arrest made in brothers deaths outside Golden Corral; Police say it was over drugs

Sunday?s killing of two brothers in a Golden Corral parking lot was over drugs, Jacksonville police said in announcing an arrest Tuesday.An individual came forward tipping police that the suspect was looking for people to help rob Matthew and Andrew Bohannon for drugs, the Sheriff?s Office said. Others corroborated the account leading to the arrest of 19-year-old Avery Damone Wood on two counts each of murder and armed robbery.

Police ID Jacksonville Man Killed At Bus Stop

A Jacksonville man killed in a July 13 bus-stop robbery has been identified 34-year-old Michael Eugene Siegrist of Cobalt Avenue.Police have said the victim was sitting with a woman at a bus stop at Jammes Road and Harlow Boulevard about 4:30 a.m. when a gunman approached them and demanded the woman?s purse. Siegrist was shot at least once after confronting the robber, who fled with the purse.Anyone with information can call the Sheriff?s Office at (904) 630-0500 or CrimeStoppers at (888) 277-8477 (TIPS).

Jacksonville Man Shot In Moes Parking Lot

A 19-year old Jacksonville man who said he was robbed during a drug transaction was shot in the chest Monday night in Julington Creek.The unidentified man drove himself to a hospital and is in stable condition, the St. Johns County Sheriff?s Office said.He told police he was sitting in his vehicle between 10:15 and 11:15 p.m. in the parking lot of a Moe?s Southwest Grill on North Florida 13 when the robber got into the back seat and held a gun to the victim?s head. The 19-year-old said he grabbed the gun and it discharged in the struggle.

Reward Offered For Information In Slaying Of Amber Bass

Jacksonville police are asking for help identifying a light-colored vehicle captured on a surveillance camera about the same time 22-year-old Amber Bass was slain in her driveway July 19.Homicide Lt. Rob Schoonover asked for the public?s assistance at a briefing to announce a reward of as much as $4,000 for information leading to the arrest of a suspect and recovery of a gun in the case. He said the car came into the neighborhood after Bass and may have been dropping someone off before leaving a short time later.?They may have seen something,? he said.

A 50-year-old security guard found shot to death outside a Jacksonville McDonald?s Thursday has been identified.Brenda Williamson was an unarmed security guard who was still on duty when she was found inside her pickup with a gunshot wound to her upper body about 5:40 a.m.Police said no one heard gunfire and witnesses thought she was asleep in the truck outside the restaurant on Bonneval Road just west of Interstate 95 and off Butler Boulevard.
