21-year-old Orange Park Man Dies In Motorcycle Crash

A 21-year-old Orange Park man died Thursday night when his motorcycle crashed into a turning car.Troy Thompson was driving his Honda motorcycle east on Colonial Drive in Orange County, while Milagros Garcia was heading west in the left-turn lane, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. Garcia began turning left in his Audi at about 8:15 p.m. in front of Thompson, who hit the car with his motorcycle.Thompson was wearing a helmet when he died. Jacksonville Man Gets 20 Years In Prison For Fatal Park Shooting

A Jacksonville suspect who was 17 when he killed one man and wounded a child by shooting into a crowded park avoided trial this week and has been sentenced to 20 years in prison.Tamarius Jerome Bowes, 19, pleaded guilty before jury selection Monday to second-degree murder, aggravated battery and carrying a concealed weapon.Circuit Judge Adrian G. Soud followed his prison time with 10 years of probation.

Jacksonville Man Gets 40 Years In Clay County Childs Death

A Clay County judge sentenced a Jacksonville man to 40 years in prison Friday for death of a 16-month-old girl in 2009.Torey Leonard Jenkins, 37, had pleaded no contest in July to second-degree murder in the death of Destiny Patterson. He was baby-sitting the toddler at her Oakleaf area home while her mother was attending nursing school at Keiser University on Sept. 19, 2009. When she returned home, she discovered that her daughter wasn?t breathing. Jenkins dropped both of them off at a nearby fire station and then fled to Tennessee.

Authorities are seeking information on a Red Nosed Pit-bull service animal that was taken or strayed from Green Cove Springs area residence, according to the latest Clay County Sheriff?s Office property crimes report.Here is the full report for Aug. 16-17:TheftsAug. 16A bicycle locked to a lawn mower was stolen from the driveway at a residence on Aries Drive,Orange Park. The lawn mower handle apparently was unscrewed and the locked bicycle was removed and stolen.

No Criminal Content Found In Clay Inmate

The March death of a 19-year-old Clay County jail inmate who was surrounded by corrections officers when he died in a restraint chair has been ruled a homicide, though authorities said Friday no criminal act occurred.Daniel Linsinbigler Jr.was in the medical unit of the jail when he became boisterous, yelling and kicking his cell door. Corrections officers took Linsinbigler from his cell, pepper sprayed him once, placed him in the chair and eventually placed a mask over his face.
