A bullet pierced an outside window and a chair inside Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Fire Station No. 7 at 2436 Division St. early Tuesday, but no one was in the room when it happened.The firefighters at the station just north of Kings Road on Jacksonville?s Northwest side were in their sleeping area on the other side of the station when the bullet cracked through the window and embedded itself in a day room chair. So no one was injured, Jacksonville Association of Firefighters President Randy Wyse said.

Jacksonville Man Arrested Following Death Of 12-year-old In 120 Mph Crash

A 52-year-old Arlington man has been arrested for vehicular homicide and multiple charges of driving under the influence and reckless driving after a 12-year-old girl died a week after a high speed April 4 accident in the 2700 block of Townsend Boulevard, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff?s Office.Stanley Robert Jefson of Parkcrest Drive was arrested just before 11 a.m. Friday on the charges, which also include DUI manslaughter, assistant chief Chris Butler said.

Jacksonville residents who turn in their guns for $50 apiece as part of a Sheriff?s Office buyback program will now also be contributing to the future of some of the city?s youth, Sheriff John Rutherford said Tuesday.Later this month, as the Sheriff?s Office begins doling out $70,000 taken from drug dealers in an effort to get guns off the streets, the city?s Police Athletic League will also be getting a boost.

Identity Released Of 24-year-old Bicyclist Killed In Orange Park Friday

The name of a 24-year-old man who died Friday after being struck while walking his bike across an Orange Park intersection has been released.Armando A. Acosta, of Orange Park, was crossing the intersection of Blanding and Belmont boulevards, near Kingsley Avenue about 6 a.m. when he was hit by a pickup truck driven by Shad D. Devries, 42, of Orange Park, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. Devries was turning north from Belmont onto Blanding and hit Acosta with the right front of the truck.Acosta was pronounced dead at Orange Park Medical Center.

10 people shot in Miami
Ten people were shot early Tuesday morning in Miami, according to multiple media reports. It is not immediately clear how many people have been killed or whether there are suspects are in custody but NBC Miami is reporting that at least two people may have died in the incident. Ref. USAToday

At least 30 marijuana plants have been taken from a house on Jacksonville?s Westside.The plants are in the 6-foot range and are mature plants, according to Times-Union news partner First Coast News.The house is in the 11400 block of Emma Oaks Lane in the Adams Lake neighborhood off Normandy Boulevard and west of Chaffee Road.

Palatka Man Arrested After Thursday Night Shooting Leaves Victim Hospitalized

An East Palatka man has been arrested on charges of attempted murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon after a 35-year-old man was shot Thursday night in the 500 block of North 8th Street, according to the Palatka Police Department.Nathaniel McDuffy of Cross Road remains in the Putnam County Jail held on no bail, according to police.

Armed Robbers Hit Crescent City Bank Monday

Masked men armed with handguns robbed a Putnam County bank Monday and escaped with an undisclosed amount of cash, authorities said.The two men entered the Bank of America at 913 N. Summit St. in Crescent City shortly before 1:30 p.m. and demanded cash. They fled on foot with the cash, according to the Putnam County Sheriff?s Office.No one was hurt in the robbery and no shots were fired. The Sheriff?s Office is assisting the Crescent City Police Department with the investigation.
