Women Stabbed At Jacksonville Hotel Met Suspect Through Website

The two women stabbed Saturday ? one who died ? at a Baymeadows Road hotel had arranged a date with the suspect through a social media website, Jacksonville police said.The women were attacked in a room at the Hawthorn Suites about 4 a.m., with the victim being stabbed less than five times and the survivor about 20 times, Assistant Chief Chris Butler said. Jennalee Miles, 28, of the 4000 block of Mustang Road was found dead in front of a room wearing only undergarments. The surviving 27-year-old was able to pull a fire alarm to get help.

A 25-year-old St. Johns County man turned himself in to authorities Thursday night in connection to a hit-and-run crash that killed a pedestrian in July.Oliver Michael Heckscher of the 200 block of Trade Wind Lane was charged with leaving the scene of a crash with a death, according to the St. Johns County Sheriff?s Office.Robert Dale Louk, 53, was hit by a Toyota Tundra July 8 on South Florida A1A at Florida Avenue shortly before midnight and the driver fled the scene, according to the Sheriff?s Office. The St. Augustine Beach man died from his injuries.

Jacksonville police have charged two men in the 2013 fatal shooting of another man during a confrontation at the Norwood Flea Market in the Norwood neighborhood of North Jacksonville.Oronde Owuso Nathan, 23, a transient and Vivian Anthony Kingston Jr., 21, of Eureka Garden apartments are charged with murder in the death of Brandon Scriber, 23, of the 2800 block of West Ninth Street. The slaying occurred Nov. 22 inside the flea market at 5301 Norwood Ave.

First Coast Crime Stoppers has increased the reward being offered for information in the Oct. 21 shooting death of trash truck driver Gary Leon Bell to $6,000.Bell?s body was found about 4 a.m. at Moncrief Road and West 35th Street as he was heading to work for Republic Services. The 62-year-old grandfather was a mile from his home and a block north of his bus stop when he was shot in a possible robbery.

A middle-aged couple was found dead Friday morning in a St. Johns County home, according to Times-Union news partner First Coast News.The two deaths appear to be a murder-suicide, according to the St. Johns County Sheriff?s Office.Family members found the couple inside a home in the 100 block of Plumton Court and deputies arrived around 11 a.m.The Sheriff?s Office is waiting for search a warrant to look inside the home.Check jacksonville.com for more updates as they become available.
