Jacksonville police Friday announced the arrest of one man in a slaying involving a drug deal gone bad and a separate arrest of a man accused of killing a Good Samaritan who tried to help a victim being attacked in a robbery.Both attacks occurred last year.Lorenzo Brown, 19, is charged with felony murder in an attack that led to the death of one of his accomplices during a drug related robbery March 20 in the 3000 block of Mandell Drive, police said.

FHP: Fatality In Collision Involving Van Motorcyle In St. Johns County

The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating an accident with a fatality in St. Johns County, according to the agency?s website.The accident occurred just after noon on Florida 13 and Friendship Drive and has all of the state road closed in the area.The St. Johns County Fire and Rescue Facebook page said the accident involved a van and a motorcycle. The motorcyclist was found unresponsive on the scene and was taken to Memorial Emergency Center - Julington Creek, the page said.

Pair Arrested In Rash Of Middleburg Auto Burglaries

Two men have been charged with multiple counts of auto burglary after a lengthy investigation into 52 vehicle break-ins over one month in the Middleburg area, according to the Clay County Sheriff?s Office.Under arrest are Aaron Jason Driver, 18, and Chase Daniel Bennett, 19, both of Middleburg.Bennett is charged with 14 counts of auto burglary, plus four grand theft, according to jail records. Driver is charged with 10 counts of auto burglary, two grand theft and one petty theft.

Jada Christine Norfleet died from a beating with a 1-by-2 piece of lumber administered to discipline the 4-year-old girl, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff?s Office.Jada was hit multiple times before paramedics were called to her parents? Southside apartment Friday, killing the child and resulting in the arrest of her father ? a teacher ? and stepmother, according to Chief of Investigations Chris Butler.It was used ?to issue discipline against the victim,? Butler said Tuesday at a news conference.

Jacksonville police have evacuated the Baymeadows Islamic Center, a Denny's restaurant and part of a La Quinta Inn in the 8200 block of Dix Ellis Trail due to a suspicious package.Police spokesman Christian Hancock said it was found about 1:30 p.m. but didn't have more details. The mother of 19-year-old victim Shelby Farah is calling on the office of State Attorney Angela Corey to drop the death penalty against the man accused of killing her daughter.Darlene Farah said James Xavier Rhodes should get life in prison without the possibility of parole, but prosecutors have rejected an offer from Rhodes? attorney?s that would lead to that outcome.Farah said she has asked Corey?s office to agree to the deal, but prosecutors have refused to do it.

Body That Washed Ashore In St. Johns County Identified As Missing Kayaker

The body that washed ashore in St. Johns County this week has been identified as the 22-year-old kayaker who disappeared in late January.Garth Ryan Sangree, a University of North Florida student, vanished after telling friends he planned to go kayaking from the Jacksonville Beach pier Jan. 24 by himself. A beachgoer found him early Wednesday at the Guana Preserve in the 2000 block of North Florida A1A in Ponte Vedra Beach.The St. Johns County Sheriff?s Office said the cause of death has been ruled an accidental drowning.
