The Sheriff's Office announced Thursday that Rafael Ramiro Quintanilla, 26, of Fleming Island was charged with second-degree murder in the death of 21-year-old Joshua Wayne Perdue of Middleburg. Ref. Source 4

A 40-year-old Springfield man was arrested Sunday on a charge of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon after a Northside man was stabbed Jan. 17 outside the JTA bus terminal at 201 W. Union St., according to police. Ref. Source 6

Jacksonville Sheriff's Office staffer carjacked Sunday in downtown Jacksonville

The woman told officers she was waiting for a friend at 10:45 p.m. With her driver's door open and her legs on the curb when a man in a black hooded sweatshirt ran up and jumped in. When he ordered her to drive, she headed west on Water Street, the gunman demanding she take all her money out of her purse. Stopped at a red light, the gunman also demanded her identification, which she said she didn't have and handed over her gold bracelet instead. He also demanded her cell phone. Ref. Source 7

Man dies after struggle with police at Jacksonville hotel

Chief John Hartley of the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said multiple 911 calls led police to the hotel where officers found a man with a history of mental problems in distress. Ref. Source 1

Wow, this is frightening... I leave for Florida in 16 days. Thank goodness I'm only spending a week down there. But I suppose the crime rate wouldn't be worse than my city, although in my city I know which parts to avoid.

Adam Lee Allred was charged with leaving the scene of a crash involving a death after authorities arrested him at his home Wednesday night in the 10900 block of Indies Drive North. Parked outside was a damaged 1987 Chevrolet pickup truck, Florida Highway Patrol Lt. Bill Leeper said. Ref. Source 8
