Four arrested in murder of Jacksonville hotel worker

Three Westside Jacksonville men and a Westside woman were arrested early Friday on murder and armed robbery charges in what was called the ?brutal? beating death Monday of an employee at the Quality Inn and Suites at 8333 Dix Ellis Trail, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff?s Office.
Under arrest are: Craig Eugene Roback, 31, Jennifer Henn, 31, and Douglas Elwood Haynes, 27, all from the 500 block of Lane Avenue; and Beau Richard Graham, 26, of the 7600 block of West Beaver Street. They were booked into the Duval County jail Friday morning, according to police.

Marion jail escapee caught in Jacksonville

A dangerous jail escapee from Marion County was taken into custody today in Jacksonville.
The Marion County Sheriff's Office said 17-year-old Yarnel Rashaurd Bagley was arrested at a home in the 3800 block of Springfield Boulevard in Brentwood. Details were not released.
Monday Marion authorities issued an alert for Bagley saying he was last seen at the La Quinta Inn at 8555 Blanding Blvd. on April 22 and wasn't afraid to pull the trigger. He had escaped the jail three days earlier.

Jacksonville man arrested after tavern kegs vanish

Police say a Jacksonville man has been stealing empty beer kegs from a Southside tavern.
Joseph Ronald Tompkins, 24, is charged with theft after the empty kegs were stolen from Jacksonville Ale House on Deer Lake Court in early March. The barrels were turned over for $10 and $20 return deposits at distribution centers, according to his arrest report.
Tompkins was charged in the case after he was questioned Wednesday while in custody on an unrelated vehicle burglary charge. He told police he was high at the time, the report said.

3 feared shot in Jacksonville gunfire

Multiple gunshots rang out this afternoon as possibly three people suffered bullet wounds in a Jacksonville shooting.
Police have blocked off a large area at Hart, Grothe and Wilcox streets near Myrtle Avenue. Initial reports indicate a child may be among those injured in the incident about 4:20 p.m.
A fire department captain could only confirm an ambulance transported one critical victim with trauma alert to Shands Jacksonville. One or more could have been taken by personal vehicles.
Nearby resident Darryl Corbett said he heard 35 shots and saw people running.

Body in Jacksonville ditch was 20-year-old missing man

A 20-year-old Jacksonville man reported missing Friday has been identified as the person found Sunday in a ditch off Harlow Boulevard.
A couple out for a stroll that evening found the body of Antwan Johnson of 5900 block of Townsend Road in the ditch near a popular cut-through to a Cedar Hills Athletic Association ballfield. The Sheriff's Office has not released a cause of death but is investigating it as a homicide.
