Ocean Heaven
What is your review for the entertainment value of the movie called, "Ocean Heaven"?
Jet Li's first non-action movie trades physical power for an emotionally powerful journey of a father's tireless love for his autistic son. This is an intimate and deeply moving portrait of a terminally ill father's attempt to teach his autistic son the necessary life skills to survive on his own before he passes away. It is also a poignant tribute to the infinite love that parents have for their children and their unending desire to take care and look after them to their best abilities, no matter the struggle, no matter the effort.

A beautiful film that really portrays how I feel sometimes as a father handling three autistic sons. The part that reflects my life the most is the father's preparation for his death and the fact that he worries over who will look after his son being all alone. I'm so glad Jet Li took up this film and a significant one at that as in China there are millions of autistic children and adults.
I was very impressed in this low budget film. I thought Jet Li and Wen Zhang did a fabulous job portraying both a father and an autistic adult with autism. The movie reminded me a lot of my sons and some of the things they do on a daily basis and how frustrating it is.
When the movie just started I thought on the worst ending possible but it wasn't. The movie reflects perfectly the challenges and feelings of what a lot of parents deal with when they have an autistic child. A lot of sensitive moments throughout the film.
