Mormon Homosexuality Poster says, "At first I was against it because of the sanctity of marriage and it's eternal purpose, but now I am not sure. I agree that a Temple marriage can only be between male and female. This is because of the religious sanctity of marriage for eternity, for propogation and simply because that is how God intended it. However, the Church recognizes the validity of civil marriages that are only for this life and not eternity, even though this is not how God intended it. "Your view is... ?" Preservation? It sounds almost Hitlerian thinking. I never said homosexuality is good. You certainly like to assume/put words in people's mouth they never said and where is your love for your fellowmen?

Preservation of society is merely an anthropological fact.

Then I trust you are not in favor of legislation which legitimizes/benefits this lifestyle choice.

Comments: This is almost like poetic justice. When the church tried to practice highly taboo plural marriage at the time the government came down tough on them and they stopped after awhile. Now here is the church trying to get a somewhat taboo marriage stopped.

I fail to see the connection. Just because I may not agree with an homosexual lifestyle doesn't mean I would now try to stop legally others from living it.

When you assumed I think homosexuality is 'good'.

Who is trying to stop them, legally, from living it?

Your insecurity perhaps leads you to read between the lines things that aren't there. But I suppose we shall soon see what you really think about homosexuality...

When you have a bunch of people who don't wish to recognize gay marriages then you have a group that is intolerable and wish to bring their religious agenda in an issue that I think should be dealt strictly within a civil context and not a religious one.

Insecurity? Please keep the cheap remarks to yourself. If you want to debate the topic or disagree with me it's all good but please let's keep the emotional responses/personal ones out of it. Thank you.

How does the state not recognizing gay marriages prevent homosexuals from engaging in their perverted lifestyle or even marrying?

You're the one reading between the lines, not me.

Because if you believe they're perverted (per definition of "deviation from what is considered to be orthodox or normal") then expecting them to marry people from the opposite sex is pretty stupid. It's like if we expect you to now marry people from your same gender and tell you nobody is stopping from doing it.
