I have some relatives that have same sex attractions. Though I sympathize with them, this does not mean that I will ever accept or understand completely their lifestyle regardless if it is genetic or chosen.
Dbackers I feel the same way, I love everyone equally including those with same sex-attraction, however just to be fair we have millions of wonderful members who struggle with same sex-attraction and they don't act upon their feelings, I am guessing you're talking specifically about those who do?
To clarify, I love and accept them. The behavior, I do not accept.
I see no difference in a man who may have a stray thought in his marriage about another women and choses to remain faithful and the same sex member who has these desires and choses not to follow through on the actions. I hate neither man, but respect them for their fidelity. Struggling with inappropriate desires affects us all.
You mean, the behavior you do not agree? Because unless they're asking for your approval, you don't have to "Accept" Anything. Not trying to be technical but it bugs me when we talk about accepting when is none of our business.
Having said that, the issue is a little different of a married man who lust after another woman, the issue some of our members struggle is the fact that they will live a celibate life for the rest of their lives, with feelings they had since they were born. Everyone is quick to disagree, but slow to understand.
Faithful LDS members attend fireside on same-sex attraction
Members of North Star International addressed an audience of young LDS men and women Saturday about hope and healing for Mormons who experience same-sex attraction. The fireside comes on the heels of two major Supreme Court rulings on gay marriage, stimulating widespread curiosity about The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints" official stance on homosexuality. The LDS Church heavily promoted Proposition 8, a legal measure defining marriage as between a man and a woman, in California in 2008. Ref. Source 6
One of our articles of faith states that we believe in honoring and sustaining the law, I would like to know if this include evil laws as well because the liberal Mormons are trying to tell me that I should support gay marriage because it is legal now in some places and I totally disagree with that.
