Hm.. I did not save my reply. OK.
The church should really not get involved in this whole issue. They will get stamped on again and again just like in California proposition 8.
Their position should reflect church standards and believes. They should teach their members temple marriage requirements and for time only performed by bishops etc.
Regarding same gender relationships or for that matter plural marriage relationships, I think we should stay out of it, love them and show kindness. We might disagree with what they do but it is not for us to throw the first stone.
We have awesome friends that have lived together for over 20 years, faithful to each other. We go at times for dinner, watch their dog when they go on holidays. And we enjoy their company. Many "Normal" Couples can learn from them.
I really do not all understand what "Married" All means. What did that mean 1500 years ago? Did God allow for time only relationships? When we lived polygyny as a church we asked outsiders for acceptance, toleration, open mindedness. Should we not be more tolerate as well? 20 years from now we will not even raise an eyebrow. I still remember the terrible notion of sex education in the class room. Remember girls having jeans with zippers in the front instead of in the back or on the side. My gosh this world was coming to an end.
I think the Church as an organization is trying to reach out. Definitely the "Tone" On which homosexuality is discussed in 2013 is quite different from what it was 20 years ago. There is more understanding and research being done, I just wish people would let others live as they want without us trying to get involved in the middle (Granted, as long as everyone involved are consenting adults).
Gay couples wed after federal judge overturns Utah's same-sex marriage ban

Church Statement On Court Ruling Regarding Same-Sex Marriage In Utah
Salt Lake City | Friday, 20 December 2013 00:00:00 -0700 | The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints issued the following statement Friday after a court ruling on same-sex marriage in Utah: The Church has been consistent in its support of traditional marriage while teaching that all people should be treated with respect. This ruling by a district court will work its way through the judicial process. We continue to believe that voters in Utah did the right thing by providing clear direction in the state constitution that marriage should be between a man and a woman and we are hopeful that this view will be validated by a higher court.
