Nasa And Nsf-funded Research Finds First Potential

I guess this may not be totally cutting edge news but it is getting more press lately.
I find something interesting about this. When I logged on yesterday, someone on MSN messaged me and told me about this, saying a new Earth-like planet had been discovered, hidden behind Jupiter, and that it had trees and oceans, and I should look it up on NASA's site. Well, they were right that there was an article about a planet being discovered on NASA's site. Everything else was bogus. So my question is, how did they know there was a planet discovery, covered on NASA's site, but get 100% of everything else, so totally wrong?

international QUOTE
Gliese 581, located 20 light years away from Earth in the constellation Libra, has two previously detected planets that lie at the edges of the habitable zone, one on the hot side (planet c) and one on the cold side (planet d). While some astronomers still think planet d may be habitable if it has a thick atmosphere with a strong greenhouse effect to warm it up, others are skeptical. The newly-discovered planet g, however, lies right in the middle of the habitable zone.

Potential Finds Research Nsf-funded Nasa

That is old news, since 2007 actually. Maybe they updated their website so the info is different now.
