There are quite a lot of changes happening in our ward, apparently. My original three has been reduced to one, and I've just been asked to supervise a group of 10 visiting teachers.... One of the supervisors has asked to step down. This is not something I've ever done before, but I'm willing to do my best. Interesting.

Offtopic but, This morning, one of the bishop's counselor's wives called and asked if her husband can have an appointment this afternoon in my home. I asked what for? And she said, "that's why they ask me to call -- I don't know!" Looks like a new calling? |
I have worked as Visiting Teacher Leader before, it is a great calling, if you like challenges like I do . Maybe that one would be your new calling? Let me know, I am more than willing to give you some tips about it if you want to.
Thank you, My Friend I appreciate your support! Now I realize that I have lost the list the sister sent me in the mail with my group... Yikes! Time to calm down about it and *listen*...
No, the actual calling is for the Relief Society Enrichment Night Board. Although we talked more about Single Adults than about R.S. It amazes me that there has never been any kind of SA program here in the valley... sorry, this is getting too far off topic.
I need to go find my VT list!

I try to make my visits early in the month, specially because some sisters need more than once a month visit, so I try to do it earlier so I have the whole month ahead of me if I need to do more visits.
Offtopic but, So Have you been called as the Relief Society Enrichment Leader?. This is my calling also! |
I don't know about additional visits during the month, and now that I'm down to just one sister to visit, I'm sure I'll have plenty of time if I need to. She is a young mother with twin boys!
The woman who asked me to become a VT group leader was released and called today as a Compassionate Service assistant.?? So I'm not sure now who I'm supposed to report to... ah, well, it's easily found out.
Offtopic but, Not the Leader, but on the 'committee' for Enrichment. Cool |
Home teaching is for the entire family, and is performed by priesthood leaders in the home. Visiting teaching is for the sisters only, by the sisters only, although organized and sanctioned by the priesthood leaders.

I've avoided this thread because they're are so many replies, I don't have the time to read them all. So, I don't know what has been discussed. But, I home teach with my son, almost 4 years now that we have been together. He is leaving for college in less than 2 months so that will be a change for me. We have 3 families. Our former Bishop and his wife, who have 4 children but who are now all gone, so it's just the two of them. He is on the High Council now. We have a divorced sister we visit with 4 sons. Her 2 oldest are return missionaries and not at home. The two youngest are both adults now but did not serve missions and inactive. The youngest will be 20 shortly, so still a candidate but does not show much interest. Our third family consists of a husband and wife, both on their second marriage and the wife has a 17 year old daughter. They have had multiple health and work issues, one right after another so there has been plenty of need there.
Home teaching to me is no longer a once a month visit to leave a message. Actually, it never should have been but that is the way i handled it for years. Now, we are making contact often, especially with the one family with the health issues. The divorced sister has needed our help a few times as well. It helps me to put my own problems in perspective. I would not want to go through what they are going through.
Home teaching forces us to do what we should be doing anyway. If we all lived the Gospel like we should, we wouldn't need a home teaching or visiting teaching assignment. If we love God and our fellow man, we wouldn't wait for an assignment to go out and minister to the needs of others.
