Jewel Thief - Adeben's Reign - Page 15

The Game Master says...

After a good night's sleep you arise to room service breakfast. You see that this hotel caters well for your needs. You eat and then meet in the lobby. Room service reminds you that you will need to pay if you plan to stay another night ($50 each room). You inquire about getting to the port. Although close by it is not walking distance.

GM: Say what you wish to do now.

The Game Master says...

You call the cab driver from yesterday. After 20 minutes he comes after making an earlier trip. He is happy to take you to where you want to go for $15. On his way there he says you should go on various tours of Egypt to see the sights and the pyramids. He suggests the main office of the port and asks you if you want him to wait. In the main terminal you inquire about the ship. You are told its on the manifest to bring in goods in about 4-5 days.

GM: Please deduct the money from your Character Sheet for both the hotel and whomever pays the driver. Also state if you asked for the drive to wait. Say what you wish to do now.

The Game Master says...

Everyone agrees that becoming tourists is the wisest thing at this time. The cab driver tells you that all cab drivers are trained to be tour operators so he can take you around the pyramids for the day. The cost will be $100.

He then whispers, "I can give you the extra special tour where we go to places the typical tourists do not. This will be just some more at $200."

He explains the two options covers his driving, having him guide you and the entry fee if you will like to go partially inside some of the ancient museums.

GM: Please say which, who and if you pay this fee and accept this offer.

The Game Master says...

Shifter offers the cab driver his credit card but he has no way to process it so Krusten jumps in with cash followed by Assassin's contribution. Thus, Krusten and Assassin pay $100 each to get the more 'exclusive' tour. The cab driver is most excited and makes a call on his mobile right away. He uses a heavy local dialect and speaks in a loud instructive way but you cannot understand what he is saying to the person on the other side of his phone call..

You drive first to where the typical tourists go. You see the massive structures that make up the pyramids of Egypt. The cab driver tells you that he thinks they once acted as docks for space ships and that the spiritual aspects of it was really about aliens that visited the earth before. You are amazed about his take on it. He then asks, what is your theory?

GM: Please deduct the cash and please give your replies.

The Game Master says...

Upon hearing your replies your new tour guide / taxi driver says,

"Ah you see there is more to this than simple writing on the stone walls. Sometimes there are deeper things all around us..."

He then goes into a lot of philosophical ideas about mankind, unseen powers, the universe and so forth. At first he sounds a bit off but the more you listen to what he is saying the more you realize that his theories are quite interesting and may even be legit.

He then guides you to another location where there are no tourists. It is not very far from some of the large pyramids but because the area is not as appealing to the eye at the moment it does not attract as much attention. He then shows you a rather broken sphinx. He gives you some brief history and says,

"Do you know how to read hieroglyphs? They say the same way you read the hieroglyphs is the same way you can know this sphinx. You go ahead, look around, I talk to my friend."

You see him go off to where an old man is standing and watching on as you deliberate your surroundings. You can tell the old man is very worried about your presence by the way he expresses himself towards your cab driver.

GM: ay what you wish to do now.

Jewel Thief - Adeben's Reign

The Game Master says...

Shifter looks around the Sphinx but cannot see anything recognizable as 'writing' or what you know as hieroglyphics cannot be found. The Sphinx also looks solid with no openings or 'entrances'.

Meanwhile...

Krusten uses her power to decipher the two men. Krusten gathers that the men feel you have power or that they know you have super power and want to see if you can somehow determine an entrance into the Sphinx. The older man is concerned that in doing so all of you may upset the ancient gods.

At the same time...

Assassin asks the cab driver to elaborate. He explains that to read hieroglyphics you have to look into the eyes, therefore to 'read' the Sphinx you need to look into its eyes. He then adds in his thick accent,

"I feel you know what to do, you special, you special people..."

The Game Master says...

Shifter wants to head back to the pyramids but he is delayed by the immediate actions of Krusten and Assassin who are both interested in getting to the bottom of their being brought to the Sphinx.

The Cab driver says,

"Like you I have powers, but they are not as great as yours, since mine can only allow me to detect others with special powers. I have brought others like you here before hoping that you can decipher the Sphinx as it is supposed to be a portal to something greater... Great knowledge about the future! My friend is only concerned about disturbing the order of things."

Krusten can feel the man is very genuine.

The Game Master says...

Krusten uses her powers of intent but there is no life from which to read within the Sphinx nor does she feel any danger.

Assassin uses his vision and is surprised to find a heat source within the Sphinx. At first he thinks it must be the heat radiating off the ancient clay rock but it is coming from within the Sphinx!

Shifter, in the form of a snake slowly slithers around the Sphinx looking for any hole or place that he could slip through but nothing is evident. Even so, Shifter does notice a strange indentation in the eyes of the Sphinx that form the shape of a 3 inch Egyptian Sistrum, something you would not have scene from where you stood.

GM: Say what you wish to do now.
