he decided to write a book called "THE LAST DAYS UNSEALED", a book that had a great repercusion. I haven't read the book, just some extracts of it. Very interesting the interpretation of Isaiah I read so far.

I have a copy of the book. It is very well written and contains a very powerful message. It also talks, a lot, about the Last Days Exodus.

His understanding of Isaiah is a bit different from Bro. Gileadi's, as he is possibly more critical of the members of the church.

If you can find a copy of Bro. Gileadi's book, The Literary Message of Isaiah, you should. Hugh Nibley proclaimed it the very best translation of Isaiah available anywhere, for any price. It is very clear, and makes Isaiah very understandable. I think his translation is available in some other books, but I don't have any of them. His most recent book, Isaiah Decoded is excellent, but doesn't contain the translation of Isaiah.

Gileadi's translation of Isaiah makes the information about the Exodus, the Davidic King (or Servant) and the Assyrian King very clear. Smith's work just expands on it.

He is somewhat controversial, because he is unapologetic about what he finds in these works regarding the Church and the saints.

Well you see this is my point, the subjects we are discussing are already considered by the general membership as 'controversial', but the idea of this board is to find sound answers from authoritative Church material.
Rather off topic, but...
I think I know the solution for this. I will post an update now in the read me first thread of this board.

Last Days Exodus Studies Doctrine Mormon

It was Wilford Woodruff that said that Albany would burn, Boston would have a great earthquake together with NYC. It is very exciting doctrine about the exodus it reminds me of 2 Nephi 14 quoting Isaiah.it is fitting for the saints to experience a test of faith and persecution.it was elder Neal A. Maxwell that said...

Page 3 Exodus Days Last

As I have been thinking more about this subject for the last few days, I came back to the thought that the Lord will do things in the Last Days, similar to what He has done before.

That is, I think that I have read or heard that the Book of Mormon is a type and shadow of the Last Days.  With that in mind, I think of the fall of the Nephite government just before the death of Jesus.  I also think of the speed with which the whole 'church' fell away at the same time.

Now, obviously, the type of a Last Days exodus is the original exodus of Moses and the tribes of Israel.  But there are many, many examples of the righteous people being led away into the wilderness just before massive destruction.

Isn't it wonderful to consider how the Lord's plans all come together from so many different directions?

Exodus Days Last

I have posted a bit in the International Issues section about preparedness.  However, what I have to say now is specific to LDS beliefs and culture.

I believe that those of us who are prepared, will be called forth to separate from the "world" for a time at the beginning of the final tribulations.  We will then live in tent cities.  Many people have had dreams about these cities.  I have read a few discussions about them.

Whether we do or not, contemplation of these ideas have caused me to come to some conclusions about preparedness.

We are working, and making great progress, towards having a year's supply of food.  We also have some other supplies.  But this isn't enough.

If we have to live in tent cities, it isn't going to be enough for us just to bring food and clothing.  We also need to be able to contribute to the communities.  This will actually be true of whatever type of community we live in as the tribulations come upon us.

So, what are some of the things we can learn, in order to contribute?  Here are a few items:

1. Learn to cook over an open fire.  Learn to use a cast iron dutch oven.  Include a few dutch ovens in your storage.

2. Learn how to make soap.

3. Practice the skill of telling stories.

4. Learn a musical instrument, even if it is just a tin whistle.  There may be a lot of chances to entertain others and help them forget the trials.

5. Include some books about simple games and crafts in your storage.

6. Learn wild plants that are safe to eat and provide vital nutrients.

7. Learn how to use food storage creatively (wheat sprouts and grass, gluten steaks, sourdough, etc.)

8. Learn how to tan leather and make simple clothing with it.

Just a few ideas.  Would anyone else like to contribute ideas?

Please elaborate on what you mean by 'tent cities' and why would they be necessary?

I have always found that food has always been the focus, but what about drink? Contaimnated water would cause real catastrophe more than a lack of food. How many people do you hear storing water?

I store as much water as I can in my limited space by reusing soda bottles.  I wash them, let them air dry, and then fill them -- with several drops of liquid bleach added in at the last (some people say 6 drops per 2 liter bottle, some say 12) -- cap them tightly and store them.  I figure that, even if we can't drink it for some reason, it should be good enough to wash with.  I rotate them -- use them up -- every six months or so by dumping the oldest ones to water plants with.

Other things to add to Nighthawk's list:

Learn how to dress a side of beef

Learn how to prepare your own live chicken

Garden, garden, garden and then preserve, preserve, preserve

Learn to make bread  or bake a cake on a woodstove or in a dutch oven

Learn more than basic first aid -- learn how to set a bone, stitch a laceration, deliver a baby

Make sure you can defend yourself, if necessary -- guns and ammo should be part of your "year's supply" and you should know how to use them, and know how to reload your own bullets/cartridges

Start now to make contacts with your neighbors and find out who will be helpful in a crisis and who will not

Little things matter...  twine, thread, sewing needles, extra fabric of all types, scissors and sharpeners, tape, duct tape, buttons

Tools!!!!!!!!!!! of all types

Transportation...  bikes or horses?  Anyone know how to make harness?

A lot of Mormons have had very specific dreams and visions about "tent cities" wherein the saints are called out of the world into the wilderness.

The basic scenario that these people have seen is that the Prophet sends a letter out to the Bishops and Stake Presidents. These local leaders then find out who has a full year's supply of food, and meet with them. They are told to have their supply at the chapel the next day (or within a couple of days) to be packed up into trucks and hauled to a distant site in the wilderness. The people involved are given directions.

Most people involved have only tents. Some have RVs. These tent cities then become a chance for the people to really begin to live and become Zion.

Alternatively, while considering what would happen to people fleeing the tribulations, I felt guided to the idea of tent cities of refuge.

Now, about water....

I think I referred earlier to some sources of water storage. Take a look at:
https://www.lastdaysunsealed.com/gotwater.html

My wife told me, a few days ago, that the conventional wisdom about storing water is changing, that we may not have to put chlorine in the stored water anymore. It is still a good idea to get water purification information and tools.

A good ceramic purifier is a must. This will filter out all the harmful stuff down to, possibly, virus size. It won't filter out chemicals, but it will get bacteria, micron sized impurities, etc.

There are a host of US Army field manuals available, as well as the SAS Survival Guide. These will teach how to purify water, as well as many other survival skills.

Thanks, Farseer, for the addition to the list. I, personally, believe in the ideas of an exodus or tent cities, in which case there will be a community-wide ability to provide defense and mutual support. The problem is to be ready ourselves.

I believe that this is one of the most important interpretations of the parable of the 10 virgins. But that is my own opinion.
