he decided to write a book called "THE LAST DAYS UNSEALED", a book that had a great repercusion. I haven't read the book, just some extracts of it. Very interesting the interpretation of Isaiah I read so far. |

He is somewhat controversial, because he is unapologetic about what he finds in these works regarding the Church and the saints. |
Rather off topic, but... I think I know the solution for this. I will post an update now in the read me first thread of this board. |
It was Wilford Woodruff that said that Albany would burn, Boston would have a great earthquake together with NYC. It is very exciting doctrine about the exodus it reminds me of 2 Nephi 14 quoting Isaiah.it is fitting for the saints to experience a test of faith and persecution.it was elder Neal A. Maxwell that said...

"suffering is that sweat which comes from working out your salvation with fear and trembling" |
As I have been thinking more about this subject for the last few days, I came back to the thought that the Lord will do things in the Last Days, similar to what He has done before.
That is, I think that I have read or heard that the Book of Mormon is a type and shadow of the Last Days. With that in mind, I think of the fall of the Nephite government just before the death of Jesus. I also think of the speed with which the whole 'church' fell away at the same time.
Now, obviously, the type of a Last Days exodus is the original exodus of Moses and the tribes of Israel. But there are many, many examples of the righteous people being led away into the wilderness just before massive destruction.
Isn't it wonderful to consider how the Lord's plans all come together from so many different directions?

I have posted a bit in the International Issues section about preparedness. However, what I have to say now is specific to LDS beliefs and culture.
I believe that those of us who are prepared, will be called forth to separate from the "world" for a time at the beginning of the final tribulations. We will then live in tent cities. Many people have had dreams about these cities. I have read a few discussions about them.
Whether we do or not, contemplation of these ideas have caused me to come to some conclusions about preparedness.
We are working, and making great progress, towards having a year's supply of food. We also have some other supplies. But this isn't enough.
If we have to live in tent cities, it isn't going to be enough for us just to bring food and clothing. We also need to be able to contribute to the communities. This will actually be true of whatever type of community we live in as the tribulations come upon us.
So, what are some of the things we can learn, in order to contribute? Here are a few items:
1. Learn to cook over an open fire. Learn to use a cast iron dutch oven. Include a few dutch ovens in your storage.
2. Learn how to make soap.
3. Practice the skill of telling stories.
4. Learn a musical instrument, even if it is just a tin whistle. There may be a lot of chances to entertain others and help them forget the trials.
5. Include some books about simple games and crafts in your storage.
6. Learn wild plants that are safe to eat and provide vital nutrients.
7. Learn how to use food storage creatively (wheat sprouts and grass, gluten steaks, sourdough, etc.)
8. Learn how to tan leather and make simple clothing with it.
Just a few ideas. Would anyone else like to contribute ideas?

We will then live in tent cities |
I store as much water as I can in my limited space by reusing soda bottles. Â I wash them, let them air dry, and then fill them -- with several drops of liquid bleach added in at the last (some people say 6 drops per 2 liter bottle, some say 12) -- cap them tightly and store them. Â I figure that, even if we can't drink it for some reason, it should be good enough to wash with. Â I rotate them -- use them up -- every six months or so by dumping the oldest ones to water plants with.
Other things to add to Nighthawk's list:
Learn how to dress a side of beef
Learn how to prepare your own live chicken
Garden, garden, garden and then preserve, preserve, preserve
Learn to make bread  or bake a cake on a woodstove or in a dutch oven
Learn more than basic first aid -- learn how to set a bone, stitch a laceration, deliver a baby
Make sure you can defend yourself, if necessary -- guns and ammo should be part of your "year's supply" and you should know how to use them, and know how to reload your own bullets/cartridges
Start now to make contacts with your neighbors and find out who will be helpful in a crisis and who will not
Little things matter... Â twine, thread, sewing needles, extra fabric of all types, scissors and sharpeners, tape, duct tape, buttons
Tools!!!!!!!!!!! of all types
Transportation... Â bikes or horses? Â Anyone know how to make harness?
