Last Days Exodus - Page 2

QUOTE
I have not seen any predictive prophecy by any of the Prophets since John Taylor about any part of the US, or any specific part of the world, for that matter.

Not from general Conference, but I used to look forward to firesides where these kinds of things are discussed. That is one thing I miss about being in the US/UK. Being on an island makes it difficult to speak about more enlightened topics. Anyhow, I remembered when a GA visited our mission in 1992, he spoke about the Muslims, and how they were gaining ground in the world and that the Brethren were very concerned about it. I thought that was interesting, but did not ponder it much at the time. Its' significance is far greater now.

Exodus Days Last

FWIW --  I subscribe to an email list of (non-LDS, and not all Christian) people who practice ... hmm... not "survivalist" but "preparedness" techniques.  Home gardening, canning, and otherwise preserving food they've produced.  How to live "off the grid" of electricity.  How to build and maintain a cistern or other water supply.  Lots of great tips and "how to do it yourself" kinds of things.

Many of these people are "envisioning" a world, in the not too distant future, where we will have to fight off starving hordes from the cities who no longer know how, nor care to learn how, to provide for themselves.  That the only way to survive the coming hard times will be to own and live on property "out in the wilderness."  Many of these people are already there, on functioning "homesteads."

Recently, several of them have mentioned the desire to "gather together" other like-minded individuals and share property and knowledge and work with each other, and in this way prosper and protect all those involved from the coming hard times.

I think it's interesting that there is a coming Exodus, and the minds of many people, who may have never heard of it, are already sensitive to it and are preparing.

My Patriarchal Blessing talks about the tribulations, and my part in it.  It's thrilling -- and frightening -- beyond words.

I think that anyone who looks at preparedness takes this same view, just because the vast majority refuse to prepare at all.

This may be true. However, I think that it is more likely that these will be the ones to build 'cities of refuge'. My understanding is that the Exodus will be for those who God has chosen to lead the building of the Millenium, and that it will probably consist of a 'tithe of a tithe' of the Saints (about 1%). Possibly less than 100,000 people.

Indeed. And think those who do prepare are nuts.

Can you imagine? I think of how small a number that is -- roughly the population of the valley where I live -- compared to the current population in the world. Most people (me included) don't like to think about the die-off that has to happen in the last days...

got matches?

Robert Smith, an author and scholar on the Last Days, points out that the environmentalists are so concerned about the little details, yet we know that the oceans will have all life destroyed, virtually all the grass and trees will eventually be destroyed, and the water will pretty much all be poisoned.

Robert Smith, an author and scholar on the Last Days

Who is that? Is he an LDS author? The reason I ask is because I am weary of bringing interpretations outside the realmn of authoritative LDS literature and books within this board. Perhaps it may be necessary to start a thread in the Religious Beliefs, Traditions & Languages board about the Last Days.

JB, I understand your fear about bringing non-LDS stuff in the LDS board. As far as I know, yes, I think Robert Smith is an LDS scholar. He had study this subject for long years and realized that there are so few LDS books that talk about it and then he decided to write a book called "THE LAST DAYS UNSEALED", a book that had a great repercusion. I haven't read the book, just some extracts of it. Very interesting the interpretation of Isaiah I read so far.

Robert Smith IS LDS.  He is a scholar of ancient languages, and bases the foundation of his work on Gileadi's translation of Isaiah.  However, he takes it much further, using the same keys of interpretation to decode Daniel, Ezekiel, and the OT Prophets.

He is somewhat controversial, because he is unapologetic about what he finds in these works regarding the Church and the saints.

For example, he discusses the phrases in Isaiah about the leaders of Ephraim being drunk, etc.

There is a lot of good information on his website:

BTW, he also has links to some good preparedness equipment, including the best water storage equipment I have seen.
