JB, don't you expect to have a closer relationship with your son than you would as the bishop of your ward towards your members? The bishop doesn't really know each individual well on his own. He has counselors, RS presidency, EQ presidency, VT and HT, etc. to relay issues to him. I am glad that I have a more personal relationship with my father than that. I expect you to know your son much better than you know members of your ward. I think it is important to his well being to know that you know and love him intimately.

Of course, but remember, my example was just to compare similarities. Even so you can say that a Bishop has lots of help, so too that is what each wife will be - the helpers. The first wife is the senior of the wives in a plural relationship. Each has their duty. I am no expert in plural marriage, afterall I have never done it, so I cannot talk as one who hath wisdom, I am merely showing what the possibilities of it in operation are? In addition to this remember such families often had servants. Going back to the father issue. I think a father can be a great father by spending quality time which each child, each day, in this case it would be x20, but each father has his lifetime to perfect it
This leads me to think that the Lord will bless us with such relationships if we can prove faithful in the few children we have now and our one spouse.

I think the hardest thing about some plural marriages was having more than one *home*. How would a Patriarch of the family be able to divide his time between homes, wives, and children if each lives in a different home? I know first-hand how kids suffer without a loving, caring father at home and involved with his kids.
It would take a true Patriarch, and some awesome wives, to make it work correctly.
In my opinion.

Joseph Smith said the best way to learn was to go to God and get direct revelation for yourself on the matter.
I doubt everything God has revealed to His indivdual children has been published for OUR APPROVAL. That is why the most unemployed member of the church is the Holy Ghost. If it wasn't put in print for you to read or voted on or cannonized God couldn't have spoken it to anyone...right? How adolescent we are in the spirit.

Merely because the weak spirits of the late 1800s acquiesced to the demands of a nation with the seal of doom set upon it relinquish their rights to celestial glory because they want to be at peace with a nation doomed to its ignominious fate, does that mean God has no power and cannot complete His work with another people?Are we so arrogant as to thing He is bound or intimidated by our cowardice? You can vote and raise the hand to the square all day long but Jesus said God could raise up seed from these stones. If so, have we given up our crown to be at peace with a Satanic government?

If any law right, ceremeony, or principle of the Gospel is lost then it requires another dispensation to restore it. Joseph the true Prophet said there were no more dispensations and all things were restored never to be taken till Christ come. So if any individual has not operated in an office or an ordinance of the gospel or the Priesthood, he has disqualified himself from passing that which he never possessed on to another. And it is so worlds without end.
