Here is a link to Mosiah Hancock's vision if anyone wants to read it.

Among other things, he claims we were paired up in the pre existence and had mates. About 1/3 of the males and females would not take sides and remained nuetral. And those who followed Satan were all male.
He says those who followed Satan were cast out, and the females that were paired up with those who were cast out were given to other males who already had spouses. The 1/3 who did not take sides were allowed to come to Earth but as servants. I assume he is referring to the black race. This is contrary to what other church leaders have stated that there were no nuetral spirits.
I am not sure what this has to do with the subject matter of Heavenly Mother, but could something so specific to be known to the Church come from someone other than the Prophet or are we to understand that this was for his personal understanding. Either way what is the authenticity of the text?
I was posting the reference Nighthawk referred to regarding Mosiah Hancock's vision of the spirit world, which if is true, would explain why God could have many wives and thus, there are many Mothers in Heaven. As far as the authenticity, I have doubts if his interpretation is accurate. You would think this information would have come through the proper line of authority.
QUOTE |
35 And also all they who receive this priesthood receive me, saith the Lord; 36 For he that receiveth my servants receiveth me; 37 And he that receiveth me receiveth my Father; 38 And he that receiveth my Father receiveth my Father's kingdom; therefore all that my Father hath shall be given unto him. (D&C 84, emphasis mine) |
QUOTE |
29 Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God. 30 For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God in heaven. (Matt. 22, emphasis mine) |
QUOTE |
34 And Jesus answering said unto them, The children of this world marry, and are given in marriage: 35 But they which shall be accounted worthy to obtain that world, and the resurrection from the dead, neither marry, nor are given in marriage: 36 Neither can they die any more: for they are equal unto the angels; and are the children of God, being the children of the resurrection. (Luke 20, emphasis mine) |
Scholar says 'God had a wife'; LDS writer Tresa Edmunds says, 'Yeah. We know.'
Edmunds, a stay-at-home mother and a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, outlined the origins of Mormonism's early ideas about a Heavenly Mother and its status in the faith today. "Much of the discussion about Heavenly Mother consists of references to the logic of the relationship," wrote Edmunds, who occasionally contributes to the Guardian's Comment is Free section of its website. "If God is the father of our spirits, as Mormons believe, then there would need to be a mother." Ref. Source 6
You'll see a lot of doctrines like this come to the forefront as the political turntables start turning. Beliefs like our Heavenly Mother isn't mentioned much but by the time the debate for GOP gets going you can bet most of America will know about it among other things.

Comments: I firmly believe that we have a heavenly mother and there are some thoughts that I would like to throw into the mix if I may. The quotes that have been used stating the existence of a heavenly mother have come from the first presidency and thus in my opinion from God,
Many leaders (Past and present) have spoken about the fact we have a Heavenly mother. We don't know anything about her but I was thinking if we assume that Heavenly Father lives the higher law of Plural Marriage, does it mean that we then have more than one Heavenly Mother?
