I hope by caliber you mean such a good servant. |

Those of us who are willing to do what the Lord asks will bear the burdens of those who don't. |
This message comes from a different angle, it is not about accepting a call or magnifying it, but in being the person that extends the call... and choosing the right person.
I have noticed a tradition, and I believe I am using the correct word: 'tradition', I am almost sure of it, but of course this is all my opinion and there is much room for discussion, however, I feel that most calls are given on the basis of who is more friendly, rich, known, etc. I sincerely believe that if I were to find a person to fill a call or serve as a Counselor to me I would first ask... who does their home teaching consistently? Then... that would be the man... even if he were not articulate, or have a particular 'look', because for sure he is an example and no one can hold him accountable.
The longest calling is the one I have right now, 1st Assistant in the High Priest Group. Going on about 2.5 years. Unless you count Home Teching as a calling. In that case, it's been 32 years and counting. I don't ever remember being without a calling, except for when we've moved and it takes the new ward a couple of weeks to call us to something. I have no complaints, as long as they don't call me to be Bishop.
I'm currently without a call... It's weird, I produced the Sunday programs for over two years, and it's odd to have my Saturday mornings "off"... Although I did mention to my new bishop that I would be interested in serving as Single Adult rep
