Bill O'Reilly says it's 'tremendously disheartening' to part ways with Fox over 'completely unfounded claims'

The conservative megastar talk show host issued the statement hours after he was dropped from the Fox News Channel lineup following an investigation into allegations of sexual harassment. "Over the past 20 years at Fox News, I have been extremely proud to launch and lead one of the most successful news programs in history, which has consistently informed and entertained millions of Americans and significantly contributed to building Fox into the dominant news network in television," O'Reilly said in the statement. "I will always look back on my time at Fox with great pride in the unprecedented success we achieved and with my deepest gratitude to all my dedicated viewers. They sure did pay a lot of money for the "Unfounded" claims. I would watch O'Reilly on occasion, much like I'd watch Chris Matthews on occasion. O'Reilly was definitely entertaining, but it was barely news. It was mostly opinion and he was a bully. That said and as long as you kept in mind what his show was and wasn't, you could be entertained. But that long run is over.

I actually used to see Bill O'Reilly as a serious potential candidate for the white house but he did not show well in the GOP run up. Now look at this, he is finished.

For being unfounded they sure cut ties very quickly. I have a feeling that something was founded and they are being very hush hush about it. Either way if he is guilty of this harassment then he should not be a public figure even if it is how to be a bully news.

I don't think Fox wanted to get rid of him. Latest reports say that he was released because advertisers pulled out of his show due to the allegations. In the end its really about money.
