Comments: The handbook that the Relief Society president has or the blue handbook that the bishop/ stake president has states that the person may be buried with the clothing in the casket in a pack if it was a situation where the temple clothing would not be understood/ family member objected etc. Having been in this situation as an EQ president, I have found that the best source is to consult with the bishop/ presiding authority and let him handle it. Once you have done this, any obligation you would have would be relieved.
The handbooks are pretty clear on this and how it is done by endowed members only. Mistakes are made and sometimes more than you think.
I know a high priest who wants to be buried in his white suit that he works in the temple in. He cited the same handbook passages I am here and it doesn't state that the actual temple robes are required according to him.
The bishop has the handbook that covers this in detail. The Relief Society president has a guide for dressing the dead as well.
Hope this helps.

I had to move this Thread from the public Board because I just do not feel comfortable going into so many specifics with regards to the Temple and temple attire where anyone can read and the Search Engines index it. True, we may lose a lot of input into the Topic, but so be it as I do not want to be yet another site that makes sacred things an open spectacle for everyone.
Rather off topic, but... I agree with you, JB. No worries |
