He is a very nice guy. I met several of his relatives in Argentina, including his brother who was a Stake President in the Buenos Aires West Stake and his niece. Most LDS Argentinians are very happy to know that a folk became the first latin america General Authority. He was also an accountant for a branch of the government before becoming a GA.
A good friend of mine was in the Rosario mission when then Pres. Abrea was the mission president. He served as his assistant and had nothing but good things to say about him. He did say he had a temper at times though and you didn't want to be in his way when it hit.
