Sometimes while you go through life you stop and think... 'What's it all for anyway?' Rejection, sadness, disrespect and many other emotions come into play when we try to do good to others and get persecuted or made ashamed in the process, but here is a great answer for this...
That's a great way to say it, JB. I'm so glad you posted this. It took me a long time to come to those conclusions, but didn't know how to put it into words. (I'm going to save it and print to post over my desk at work! :) )
My salvation is my own responsibility. I'll do what I have to do, what I'm commanded to do, to achieve the goals I have in that direction. What other people think is usually irrelevant.
A man I once knew said something similar before he died... "don't let people in the church turn you away from the Lord."

What a great "poem." I am printing it out and also sent it to a few friends via e-mail. Quite inspirational.
Now, how it makes me feel in a word is responsible. I am responsible for my actions no matter what anyone else does. That is why I am required to forgive, etc. Just because someone does me wrong, doesn't mean I am justified in doing the same to them. I need to forgive and move on.
This is a huge responsibility and one to remember when faced with difficulties. This will be hung prominently in my house. Maybe I will "pretty it up" first and frame it.
i saw jb quote and i think it was mother theresa that said it but i could be wrong.i believe in god and his divine plan of justice none shall escape.i always try to motivate myself in doing what god expexts me to do and say and not what others think i should do and say.henry ward beecher said "a man in the right with god on his side is in the majority though he be alone"
The Lord knows us better than we know ourselves and anyone with a relationship with God knows where they stand with him, the opinions of others about another are just that, 'their opinions'.
Doctrine & Covenants 6:16 says: Yea I tell thee, that thou mayest know that there is none else save God that knowest thy thoughts and the intents of thy heart.
It can be hard at times to maintain a healthy relationship with God when influenced by outside influences, but this is among one of the many challenges of life.
