I feel that I shouldn't cast a judgment on what is and is not from Satan, and be open to the possibility of other, though lesser, powers then God's that isn't then automatically from Satan. All I know is that there are good people who use other "powers", and I know for a fact they haven't given into or consorted with Satan, anymore then Hindu or Jewish do.
I feel that there could be enough evidence to cast doubt to the idea all "power" comes from either Satan or God. Could power not also come from within us?
I can see this isn't going anywhere, guess I"m just not communicating my thoughts well enough for them to be understood. Even if the world is as black and white as you think, I feel we should be careful how we judge ideas or traits that others may use.

Comments: I have had some of the most honorable, honest, and genuinely good people tell me stories of "gifts" they have experienced in their lives. Many of these people are not Mormon and yet may possess what seem almost miraculous or "magical" gifts. They have used in helping others, in their families, or just kept the experiences as quiet knowledge to themselves. Who are we as mortals to judge what are the gifts of the spirit any may develop. The gifts are not exclusive to Mormons, the scriptures teach that clearly. If one seeks the spirit they can or should be able to distinguish what are good gifts. We all developed gifts in our pre-existance and brought them with us. If one seeks maybe one can work with ones we were born with or develop the best gifts during our short lives. Remember gifts can be eternal.
Putting my two cents in. I personally do not believe in "black" or "white" magic. The word magic is usually used to help name actions that we cannot explain in rational terms. I do believe that Satan, if allowed, can have control of certain situations. When Satan takes over people tend to class any unexplainable actions as magic, usually black. "White magic" is nothing more than answered prayers within groups of people who deny either the presence or authority of God. I do believe that faith and prayers can work miracles, even with those who do not belong to the church. The difference lies in the authority that LDS members have to perform specific miracles with the direct authority of God. Think of it, if you will, as a power boost for answers to prayer.
Understanding that there are only two sources of power, God and Satan, should dispel the ideas of any type of magic. If the action is dark, uneasy, violent or unnatural it is not from God and must be from Satan, no matter the outcome. Satan will try to mimic God's miracles in an attempt to misguide people, so the outcome will appear to be good. If the action conveys peace, light, is of "good report and noteworthy" it is from God. Just my thoughts. Merry Christmas my friends.
