Writing Of The Book Of Mormon

I have a kinda strange question. When my grandmother died, I inherited her Holy Bible and her Book of Mormon, and I noticed that they were both written in the same sort of "Old English". Why is that? I understand that was the form of English used around the time of the KJV translation of the Bible, but, as far as I know, that wasn't the form of English used around the time of The Book of Mormon. Really, it's just a curiousity of mine.

Joseph Smith, when he translated the Book of Mormon, used the "scriptural" language that he was familiar with. That is why the Book of Mormon "sounds" like the Bible.
