My wife and I have little discussions about this because she is way against polygamy in heaven, so we talk about one Goddess bearing trillions of children, instead of sharing that responsibility with other women. We also talk about the other aspects of a polygamous relationship. |
I think we will still have our preferences. I am sure I will always love chocolate for example. However, things will be so perfect I can eat as much of it as I want without gaining weight. If this is not true, then it can't be perfect for me!
I believe the every day concerns of human existance will be gone from the Celestial Kingdom, but not from the Telestial. So, to me that would mean our resurrected bodies would be different. Anyway, to me, if you are in the Celestial Kingdom you don't feel hunger or thirst, you don't get hot or cold. All is perfect. If we choose to eat or drink it will be for the pleasure gained from it.
Since the Telestial Kingdom is much like the Earth today (at least that is my understanding) it would follow logically, for me anyway, that one who only achieves this state would have some of the same concerns we have today. How to stay warm, etc. So, then, I would think the state of our resurrected body would be largely determined based upon which Kingdom it is to which we are being resurrected. I have never heard this discussed, but as I think about it right now, that is what seems to make the most sense to me.

Yes, I have heard that quote also. I realize it is better, but my understanding and some of is from the Temple, is that it is similar in our need to take care of ourselves. Of course, I could be waaayyy wrong too. I think Joseph said something like some people would kill themselves to get there if we could see how wonderful it was. Or something like that. At least that is how I heard it.
Here are some thoughts with regards to the ressurected angels in the degrees of glory:
There is a difference between the classes of angels called celestial, terrestrial and telestial. THe celestial angels have not attained to all of the power and greatness and exaltation of kings and priests in the presence of God; they are blessed with glory, happiness, peace and joy; but they are not blessed with the privilege of increasing their posterity to all ages of eternity, neither have they thrones and kingdoms, but they are servants to those of the highest order.
The angels of the terrestrial and telestial orders, while possessing a degree of happiness and glory, are lower than those of the celestial order. We might inquire, have angels not also these affections which belong to the higher class of beings, inasmuch as they are resurrected beings? Yes, but herein they have lost, through disobedience, the privilege of attaining to the higher glory and exaltation. They have affections and desires that never can be gratified, and in this respect their glory is not full.

Will we not feel some sense of sadness for those that are lost? I can't imagine having gained all and yet not feel saddened for the loss of my brothers and sisters, etc. It's obvious there are still strong emotions after resurrection -- God in his mighty anger, Christ's compassion among the Nephites, etc. -- so even though we have attained Celestial glory and all the joy that goes with it... how do we deal with the part of the family that we cannot have join us? Or is this a part of our eternal progression -- to accept their fate, and our own, and continue in the eternal world?
Of course we will feel saddness, but remember, although those who cannot enter the Celestial kingdom will feel sad themselves we can still minister to them. The Terrestial will have the presence of the Savior and the Telestial the presence of the Holy Ghost and of course we will all be ressurected in the end.
See, now I don't think we will be sad for those who didn't make it to the Celestial Kingdom. I think we will have a more perfect knowledge and understanding of things and so we will recognize this as how it is supposed to be for both our well being and theirs. Remember, we will still be able to visit them in their kingdoms, they just can't cross into ours. At least that is my understanding. So, we will still be able to have contact with them. We are all brothers and sisters and our memories of each other from before our life on earth will also be restored at the time of the resurrection so if we were to be saddened, I should think it would be for all of our brothers and sisters who didn't make it, not just those with whom we shared eartly parents. This is why I don't think we will feel this sadness. I think we currently get caught up in the emotions and knowledge we have here on earth, but by the time we are celestialized, our knowledge and understanding will be so much greater.
