Unanswered Questions or Thomas?

While doing some research I came across this web page with a thesis written by By Jack Kettler about his view and some questions that he would like answered. Here is in part what he wrote to the leaders of the Church...

To The President of the Mormon

Church and The Twelve Apostles:

May 13, 1988

Over the years I have developed a very low view of the Mormon Church due in part to your official representatives
called missionaries, or elders. After talking to many of them, I have noticed that all are unable to answer the questions
I raised about your world view, and usually are unwilling to attempt to do so. Other members of your church have
attempted to answer my questions, but without exception they say that their answers are their own personal opinions
and do not represent the official position of their church. This is most frustrating. Who does represent your church?
Does your church have something to hide? What accounts for the complete widespread ignorance of the official
position of your church?

I do not normally place anti-scribbles in here, but the reason I posted it are these...
- His comparison of our beliefs to Greek philosophy is comically familiar
- His questions are food for thought
- How would you answer a person like this?

The text is very long, you may just want to read the first few paragraphs and then scroll down to the questions he asked that he could not get an answer for... say here how you would handle it.

Thomas Questions Unanswered

First, this guy knows a lot of big words, and big ideas, but doesn't seem to know the ideas surrounding them. (he can see the stars, but he thinks God sneezed)
Second, He's pretty high and mighty to think he alone will convince the First Presidency to repent. ("Well Thomas said we should quit... I guess we'd better pack it in there, boys...") : If he's right, then they're all corrupt and don't care any way... :shady they have a good racket going. If he's wrong, then they have the truth and to turn from it would be to live a lie... and most of our men are entirely too old to bother with lying anyway! :ever

As for the main question at hand- an official standing of the church on several (worn out by anti peeps) subjects, he can find out for himself. The leaders put out 'official standings' all the time... Proclamation on the Family, General Conference, handbooks for leaders, even down to Primary lessons. It is not church policy to get involved with political parties or movements. I think that's because to do so would be to take away our free agency. We would cease to think for our own and instead look to someone else to choose for us. Pretty soon we would all be calling Salt Lake and asking what color shirt the Lord thinks we should wear today... We have to use our resources wisely, to read our scriptures, etc. and figure out what the Lord would have us do (and by the way, I don't think he cares what color your shirt is as long as it covers the important stuff and isn't crude!)
I think he should spend his time instead trying to get these answers from his own clergy and see how well they answer. I can bet he's never asked a Methodist what makes them different from a Southern Baptist, or any one else.(Most don't really know why they're this instead of that... they just go because their parents went, or because they like the preacher) And what about authority? Just who called his preacher to be a preacher? By whose authority do they preach? They'll say that The Spirit called them... but then that's what we say... and that's something he has a problem with concerning us...

Unfortunately a lot of these antis are fanatics who have raised a church up unto themselves we had an anti who lived next door briefly- he had his own little religion- (we privately called it the church of Stephen) In his eyes we are all corrupt- especially the Mormons... 'course this was the guy who couldn't keep a job and would stand on his back porch and shoot at stuff because he wanted to be a security guard (hey we all have our goals in life...)... as far as I know, he hasn't had any heavenly visitations... :rifle

I sometimes wonder how many are caught by these kinds of statements? The Doctrine and Covenants says that the very elect will fall because like you said monkeygirl - they build up the Church to themselves!

Thomas Questions Unanswered

I just read the questions and printed them off. Most of them are straight forward questions with simple answers. Others are incomplete questions which is unclear on what he is asking. Even if they are answered by the First Presidency, I doubt he would listen or even read it. His mind seems opened to Paganism but closed to the things of God. I hope to answer some of the questions here. Other's I believe would make good topics for the members of the forums to answer.

Let's start with #16 of the Epistemology:

16. What do you mean by God? We mean the Father of the Human race and the creator of all things. The word God is a position in the Melchezedek Priesthood actually it's the final title in the above priesthood.

17. Where did your God come from? He came from a world just like earth that orbits Kolob, the only difference is the world he lives on is a celestial sphere.

18. Are there other beings like your God? Yes, the Opportuntiy to be a God is offered unto all who receive all the ordincences necissary and live a righteous life.

19. If so, where did they all come from? From different earths.

20. What do you mean by "Create"? It's obvious, it means to put together to assemble to bring into one.

21. Can you present any conclusive lexical evidence that the Hebrew word for "Create" (bara) means "to organize out of pre existing matter"? Yes look at the following sites, https://bible.crosswalk.com/Lexicons/Hebrew; https://www.searchgodsword.org/lex/heb/view...mber=01254&l=en.

This all the time I have to respond to this I hope that others will print out the questions and start posting the questions for the other forum members.
