Comments: Doesn't the BOM say they landed at a narrow neck of land that eventually divided the Nephites in the south from the Lamanites in the north ?
That sort of narrows things down.
And God knowing that there would be a separation of the Brothers, both righteous & wicked, once they arrived, would have placed them on a narrow neck of decision making? The Lamanites to migrate to the North...The symbolic direction of apostasy and moving away from God. And the Nephites moving to the South...The symbolic direction of covenant making with God ?
Panama is the obvious place. It also mentions that the Nephites sort of maintained the entrance to the lands in the south as a Gate Way of protection, as would the righteous maintain the Gates of Heaven from invading enemies.
Where geographic descriptions are minimal, look for symbolic reasoning. God never inspires arbitrary accidents of destiny.

Title: Speculation
Comments: The Church has not said where Lehi landed. The Book of Mormon indicates that it was on the shores of the West Sea, but does not indicate where. Frederick G. Williams speculated that it was in Chile, but the Church issued a statement to the effect that it was not an official position. I personally feel that the Land of First Inheritance was in Guatamala or Southwestern Mexico.

Title: E. Coast landing
Comments: I firmly believe that all evidence, up to and including the most important, the words of the very prophet who re-introduced the Gospel to the world, leads us to the inevitable conclusion that Lehi and his family landed somewhere on the east coast of North America. North America has always long been the "land of milk and honey," blessed above all other lands in natural resources, and some part of North America, even the "many waters," fits every single part of the Book of Mormon geography. Another book is being written on this subject even as I type, and the evidence gathered together for this book is nearly insurmountable. Why would the pilgrims and so many other people have been guided to a land that was "choice above all others," which proved to be North America, and yet Lehi landed in Central or South America? My best advice is to see this question through the eyes of your heart. Lehi landed here, in North America, the land choice above all others.
