Hamina-Kotka merger to create Finland's largest export port

The Hamina city council approved the merger of the southeastern town's port with Kotka's late on Monday. The merger will create the country's largest export port with 15-16 million tonnes of shipping a year. The two councils hope the merger will save them about 60 million euros a year. HaminaKotka Port Ltd is to come into being next May, with Kotka holding a 60-per cent stake and Hamina owning the remainder. Source: Helsinki Times
