In a regional conference held in BYU's Marriott Center on Sunday, President
Gordon B. Hinckley counseled some 20,000 Church members from Spanish Fork
and Salem that the best way to learn the truth of the gospel of Jesus
Christ is to test it. President Hinckley also reminded those attending
that times are perilous, both politically and economically: "The forces of
evil wash across us like a flood." He warned members that more challenges
are ahead that can't be foretold, but God will protect those who are true
and faithful.

My reading of the scriptures and prophets suggests that
it will not be individual countries (or just individual
countries) involved in the political "landscape" of
the end times.
For instance, we are told that all nations shall go against
Jerusalem. That would be a huge co-incidence! I think
this means that some global or near-global political
entity will lead said armies to said city!
Consider the following prophetic remarks which lend
weight to the idea of a "union" of countries or organizations
being part of the end-time scenario:

The Book of Mormon has a lot in it about Secret Combinations; secret societies which were able to infiltrate governments in the past. What about today? Has a Secret Combination infiltrated our government?...
This is very much related to deep LDS doctrine because the Book of Mormon is full of warnings about it, and recently Gordon B. Hinckley said the Book of Mormon is like a newspaper of today's current events...
A book of ancient scriptures written on golden plates includes the writings of Prophets who lived long ago who testified and prophesied that this 'take over" would happen. They knew of the Secret Societies, or rather Secret Combinations that exist among us today.
The first to be involved in Secret Combinations was Cain, son of Adam.
". . .And Satan said unto Cain: Swear unto me by thy throat, and if thou tell it thou shalt die; and swear thy brethren by their heads, and by the living God, that they tell it not; for if they tell it, they shall surely die; and this that thy father may not know it; and this day I will deliver thy brother Abel into thine hands.
"And Satan sware unto Cain that he would do according to his commands. And all these things were done in secret. And Cain said: Truly I am Mahan, the master of this great secret, that I may murder and get gain. Wherefore Cain was called Master Mahan, and he gloried in his wickedness.
President Benson quoted this one a lot:
"For it cometh to pass that whoso buildeth it up seeketh to overthrow the freedom of all lands, nations, and countries; and it bringeth to pass the destruction of all people, for it is built up by the devil, who is the father of all lies; even that same l--- who beguiled our first parents, yea, even that same liar who hath caused man to commit murder from the beginning; who hath hardened the hearts of men that they have murdered the prophets, and stoned them, and cast them out from the beginning."
Those scriptures spoke of one specific Secret Combination setup to "overthrow the freedom of all lands, nations, and countries; and it bringeth to pass the destruction of all people." This is the same as the plan of the Illuminati / World Powers today. This could explain nothing else than what is happening to the US Government now, and all around the world.
Today similar things happen when someone of authority or influence attempts to reveal the secret plans of the Illuminati. Do some research on the following people: John F. Kennedy & Robert Kennedy were assassinated. Ron Brown was shot down, it's believed that Clinton ordered that one. Congressman Larry McDonald was taken out as well. And there are more, all taken out because they opposed the Secret Societies.
If you ever wonder why the Government has gone so far away from defending & supporting the Constitution now you know part of the reason why. This also explains why no matter what political party is in power our country still doesn't get better it just continues to get worse . . . until the day when those Secret Combinations are defeated; with the help of the Lord.

Got to https://www.lds.org and you can search through the Book of Mormon, The Pearl of Great Price, and many speeches given by modern prophets about the Secret Combinations of our days. One who spoke about this often was Ezra Taft Benson.
The Book of Mormon contains prophecies of our days, of the corruption of our Government, of the Secret Societies (Illuminati, NWO (New World Order), Bilderberg's, Rothchild's, Rockefeller's, CFR, UN, etc"¦) who make up the Secret Combinations.

One must wonder if the 'term' democracy is now the means to bring in all the evil that is possible. We can use the Western World as an example since we seem to proclaim how 'free' we are, but yet at the same time bind ourselves to homosexual legalities, abortion, murder and abuse with no penalty.

I been studying alot about "the proper role of government" as tought by modern prophets and the prophets of old alike.
An educated LDS view on government and politics should start with a proper understanding of the war in heaven. Satan tried to take our free agency, and to dethrone our father and to become the ruler. This was the first attempted coup de'tat of our history. But as the scriptures attest, we (led by Michael the Archangel) defeated satan and his followers. To many of us, the blessing of receiving the gospel in this life in direct connection with our valor in fighting to the savior's cause in the pre existence. Should we then continue to display such valor here in this earth in the defence of our Savior and the agency of man? Of course, as latter-day saint blessed with so much knowledge and gifts, that is our sacred duty!
Many if not most latter-day saints I encounter do not seem to understand the difference between "separation of church and state" and the fact that we as latter-day saints are better equiped to advance the cause of freedom than any other people on earth.
One of, if not the most powerful mean by which satan brings civilizations to their destruction is throug the influence of secret combinations. May I recomend a book entitled "The Hidden Things of Darkness, an expose of the enemies of Christ" by Christopher S. Bentley. The book of mormon contains stern warnings to us in the latter days about not allowing these things to be among us. See Ether 8: 15-25.

What if they are? The Illuminati may not be a bad thing. Yes, I am sure that a few mouths are open, but masons and even the church has its' own ceremonies that I am sure will make us look bad.
