Qualifications For A Bishop

Just curious what qualifications there are to be a Bishop. I know the scriptural references however I know there are other questions asked on the recommendation form the Stake President fills out. Does anyone knwo what these are? Can you have been divorced in the past? Must you have served a mission? Just curious. Thank you.

Bishop For Qualifications

Even though I do not know any of the questions asked, we know one of the requirements in the Scriptures is that the Bishop "must be the husband of one wife" so it seems the being divorced is not the issue, but the fact that it seems he needs to be married.

In any case, I am not aware of any policy or statement that may indicate that a divorced man cannot be a Bishop (unless and I am speculating here, if the cause of divorce was adultery by the part of the man, I highly doubt he would be call in such office). This is entirely my opinion.

On the "official" side I met both: A divorced Bishop, two who never served missions and one who was single.

It seems to me that there are always "rumors" around between members and these things but there is no back up information for such affirmations.
